Windows 10: USB flash drive not appearing anywhere

I cannot get any flash drive to work on my Windows 10 PC. They all work fine on other computers.When I plug them in, I don't get a "ding" sound anymore and they don't appear in File Explorer or Disk Management.They come up in Device Manager under "other" and says "The drivers for this device are not installed code 28". Any attempt to find or download a driver on Windows behalf fails.I have gone down to "Universal serial bus controllers" and tried reinstalling drivers for all three instances of "USB root hub 3.0" and also "USB mass storage device" which it does, but didn't fix the issue.I wen

USB Flash drive made bootable

Hi Nelson,

Check if there is any slide switch on the side that provides write protection. It show's a closed and open lock on each side. We suggest to follow these steps below:

• Insert the USB flash drive into the USB port.
• Click Start, type devmgmt.msc in the Search textbox and press Enter.
• Find Disk Drives and expand it.
• Find the USB flash drive you want to format, and double-click it. It opens the
  Properties dialog box.
• Click Policies tab.
• By default, the Optimize for quick removal option selected, switch it to Optimize for performance and then press
  OK.
• Now open Computer. Right click on the USB Flash Drive and select Format. The Format dialog box now appears.
• Select NTFS in the File System field.
• Press Start and wait while the process will be completed.

You can also connect the USB drive on a different computer and try formatting.

To find what Navy suggest:: Open a CMD window as administrator and type: diskpart list disk (it will list all drives. Identify the USB drive number) select disk n (replace n by the USB drive number obtained with list disk) list part (is there more than one partition?) select part 1 detail part (is it ntfs or Fat32?) exit
