Windows 10: USB Flash drive showing up as an audio device named "USB CAMERA 2.0"

I have two flash drives that are the same model, and contain work files, but whenever I try to plug them in, they show up as "USB CAMERA 2.0", I've tried uninstalling the devices, searching for drivers for both the drives themselves as well the PC's USB ports, to no avail. I even uninstalled all of the Universal Serial Bus group items under device manager and allowed them to reinstall, to no avail.


Any idea how I can fix this?

Windows 10 detects USB flash drives but not USB camera or smartphone

When I connect USB flash drives (simple storage drives), they are detected by Windows 10 without problem.

However, when I connect Android smartphones or cameras, the USB sound notification is heard, but the USB devices won't show up on file explorer.

I have tried these so far:

1. Since smartphones and cameras use MTP protocol, I installed MTP drivers for Windows 10, but problem persists.
   
2. Even updated the system bios! No luck.
   
3. Tried to update USB drivers, didn't help.
   
4. Played around with power options regarding USB, again no luck.
   

Can anybody help.

 

Unusual behavior - USB flash memory drive

Hah! Thank you. I've got 12 different USD flash drives listed - 6 different Display Names. Some of the names were unique and easy to match to a device. Others (like 2 "General UDisk USB Device" and 5 "Generic Flash Disk USB Device") are not so easy. So for the time being I won't delete any of them. But if any device shows up with the "wrong" drive letter, I now know how to fix it.

Hi Nelson,

Check if there is any slide switch on the side that provides write protection. It show's a closed and open lock on each side. We suggest to follow these steps below:

• Insert the USB flash drive into the USB port.
• Click Start, type devmgmt.msc in the Search textbox and press Enter.
• Find Disk Drives and expand it.
• Find the USB flash drive you want to format, and double-click it. It opens the
  Properties dialog box.
• Click Policies tab.
• By default, the Optimize for quick removal option selected, switch it to Optimize for performance and then press
  OK.
• Now open Computer. Right click on the USB Flash Drive and select Format. The Format dialog box now appears.
• Select NTFS in the File System field.
• Press Start and wait while the process will be completed.

You can also connect the USB drive on a different computer and try formatting.
