Windows 10: Usb headset microphone loses connection after running windows trouble shooter tool

I have a usb headset plugged into my dell precision computer and it does not seem to want to work. The audio works fine, but occasionally sounds like I am talking to myself when trying to use it for meetings on Teams and what not. I have attempted to use the troubleshooter tool that is under the sound settings, which allows it to work but after random intervals of time it stops connecting as well. I have also attempted to install dell drivers for my model and this hasn't seemed to fix the issue either. Any advice on this issue would be greatly appreciatedThank you

USB Microphone Issue

We are currently seeing an issue around connected USB audio devices on laptops, more specifically the microphone with these devices.

The issue will be that the microphone will stop outputting. Going to Sounds > Recording I can see the headset listed as a device; however, the device does not pick up any audio. This headset is both set as the default device, and outputs audio fine through its speakers. The internal microphone of the laptop is also working, as well as the connected Webcam microphone.

Currently, we can fix this issue by uninstalling the 'Intel(R) Smart Sound Technology (Intel(R) SST) Audio Controller' system device and then rebooting the machine to allow windows to re-install the laptop. This seems to be the only way to fix the issue, however after a few days the problem returns. Below is what doesn’t work:

• Rebooting the machine
  
• Restarting the audio service
  
• Updating/re-installing the drivers for the headset
  
• Changing headset (We have tried 3 different USB headsets; all face the same issue)
  
• Running the audio trouble shooter
  
• Persist over multiple machines on our tenant.
  
• Windows update (All machines are on the latest windows 10 build (Version 10.0.19044 Build 19044)
  
• Tried connecting the USB headset to different ports on the laptop, as well as the connected dock.
  
• Checked the privacy settings pertaining to the microphone.
  

Please can someone come up with any ideas on what is causing the issue to return, and what can be done to prevent it from returning.

I can provide any additional information if required.

 

Windows 10 hardware and system trouble shooter

Hi, I'm also unalbe to get any bluetooth device to connect to my laptop.

I ahve foollowed the trouble shooter, says its a driver problem. The driver is the one Windows 10 lists as the right one - when I tried to reload it, it said cannot reload. Any other suggestions?
