  1. USB- hub connected monitors flash desktop and then turn black

Hi All,I have had an issue ever since I started using a USB-C hub with my laptop. The issue is as follows:1. Laptop turns off external monitors from inactivity.2. I tap my keyboard to wake the monitors.3. The monitors flash my desktop for ~0.5 seconds.4. The monitors then display just black. They aren't going back to sleep they are actually just displaying black pixels5. I then have to open my laptop and restart it in order for everything to work again. One note is that this doesn't occur every time but more like ~60% of the time when the monitors go off.The setup I have is as follows:USB-C H

  2. USB HUB

    Hi,

Incompatible USB hub driver is one of the possible reasons why this issue is happening. We recommend uninstalling the USB Root Hub driver and see if it helps. Follow the stepes below:

    • Open Device Manager.
    • Double-click Universal Serial Bus controllers to expand.
    • Right-click USB Root Hub, then click Properties.
    • Go to the Driver tab.
    • Click Uninstall.
    • Restart your computer.
Note: Restarting your computer will automatically reinstall a generic driver for your computer. Also, we suggest connecting your USB hub while performing the steps.

If the issue still persists, let's disable the USB selective suspend settings thru Power Options to resolve the issue. Follow the steps below:

    • Type Power Options in the search box, then press Enter.
    • Locate USB settings > USB selective suspend settings.
    • Select Disable.

Keep us in the loop with the result.

Connecting peripherals to USB hub vs. USB ports on computer

Which peripherals should be connected to a POWERED USB 3.0 hub connected to a desktop and which peripherals should be connected directly to the desktop USB ports so as to not negatively affect performance?

Motherboard is ASUS ROG STRIX Z390-E that has 2 USB 3.1, 2 USB 3.0 and 2 USB 2.0 ports on the back. I don't have enough ports on the back of the computer for all of my peripherals.

    Peripherals:

2x Monitors (Acer Predator XB271HU) -- USB 3.0 connectors. Should the Upstream (squarish USB plug end) USB connection that activates the USB ports on the side of the monitor need to plug into USB ports on the back of the computer or can they plug into a hub?

Printer (Dell C2660dn Color Laser Printer) -- Looks like USB 2.0 connectors. Can the printer be plugged into a hub?

Scanner (Epson Perfection V600) -- Looks like USB 2.0 connectors. Can the scanner be plugged into a hub?

    Thanks in advance!
