    USB Hub wont read one external HD until machine restarted


    Hey. Having this weird issue with my external had drive and USB hub. I have 3 external hard drives plugged into a USB 3 Hub to my windows 10 asus zenbook. If i eject all 3 hard drives and unplug the hub, all is normal. When i plug the hub back into the laptop, only 2 externals show up. The 3rd external doesnt show up is disk management or device manager. I have to do a full restart, then the 3rd external shows up. I ran a hard drive check, and all seems to be good health wise to all the external drives. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!!

    USB HUB

    Hi,

    Incompatible USB hub driver is one of the possible reasons why this issue is happening. We recommend uninstalling the USB Root Hub driver and see if it helps. Follow the stepes below:

    • Open Device Manager.
    • Double-click Universal Serial Bus controllers to expand.
    • Right-click USB Root Hub, then click Properties.
    • Go to the Driver tab.
    • Click Uninstall.
    • Restart your computer.
    Note: Restarting your computer will automatically reinstall a generic driver for your computer. Also, we suggest connecting your USB hub while performing the steps.

    If the issue still persists, let's disable the USB selective suspend settings thru Power Options to resolve the issue. Follow the steps below:

    • Type Power Options in the search box, then press Enter.
    • Locate USB settings > USB selective suspend settings.
    • Select Disable.

    USB 3 hub interferes with boot

    Thanks for the response. The USB hub preventing boot occurs even when there are no USB devices attached, as long as hub is plugged into power. With no external power to the USB hub, the boot is normal. After start of boot, plug in power is no problem. I tested other USB powered hubs in this machine - the same. When I use these same USB hubs with power in another WIN 10 machine, no problem, so it is not a faulty hub. Bios boot order does NOT contain USB boot. Any suggestions of how to configure Bios to allow powered USB hub greatly appreciated.
