Windows 10: USB Keyboard and Onscreen Keyboard ceases top operate

Environment

• Windows 10 V1909
• Office Professional 2019

There are times where the Physical keyboard and OSK ceases to respond and requires a reboot:

• There are no events reported in the event log, under System, Application or Hardware
• When I check the Device Manager there is no "issue" icon on the keybaord indicating it sees a device related problem.
• I have tried removing the Keyboard Drivers in Device Mgr and allowing the OS to reinstall with a Logitech Wireless, then Philips USB, then Dell OEM after a reboot between neach step
• As part fo the troubleshooting I tried the OSK delivers the same behaviour and noted that when it to stops working, the text prediction bar across the top of the onscreen keyboard stops providing predictions, key highlights stop, but still clicks.
• There is no warning it is about to happen, and the only way to correct it is a reboot
• Co-incidentally it began once I received the updfate that moved the Outlook Search bar which in istelf will no appear in one of 2 locations the title bar or on the Right Hand Side of above the email list it swaps randomlt between the two.

I orginally flagged it as being unable to enter details into cells in Excel, but have since found the impact is accross the board.


I have clients reporting the same behaviour and a check of OLK shows they too have Office 2019 on Windows 10 with the new search bar. It may be co-incidental or it may be related.

How are you bringing up the keyboard?

For me, I right click on the Taskbar and select Show touch keyboard button, then when I click on that I get the Onscreen keyboard at the bottom of the screen and it looks like this:

 

SurfaceGo - No Onscreen Keyboard

Hi all,

I have a SurfaceGo without a physical keyboard , so the onscreen keyboard is of utmost importance.

Unfortunately the keyboard refuses to popup when I tab in a text box, also taping the onscreen keyboard icon on the taskbar triggers no response.

Please advice
