Windows 10: USB loses connection when power cable is connected

Hello,Whenever I plug power cable to my notebook all my usb ports loses connection and comes back immediately. If I copy something from an external hard drive or any usb, when I plug or unplug the power cable, copy process dies. This is really annoying. If anyone knows why this is happening please help me. I use Windows 10 Pro.

Try these:



It is normal that the phone loses connection during the reboot phase. If you wait for a while it will automatically reconnect to your PC. If you lose connection during the backup, installation or restore phase, please do the following:

• Disconnect the USB cable from your phone
• Press your phone’s power button for about 10 seconds
• Reconnect the USB cable
• Wait for the installation to continue

Note: If this doesn’t solve your issues, try to connect your phone to another USB port on your laptop or to a USB port on the backside of your desktop PC. In some cases rebooting the computer also helps or using another PC to do the
update.

Try also this:

• Right click the Nokia Suite shortcut icon.
• Then click Run as administrator.
• Then continue your update.

If above does not help reinstall the Nokia Connectivity Cable Driver or Nokia Suite.

 

Usb Medion hdd keeps losing connection

It sounds as if you have the USB selective suspend enabled in Power Options. It's a power saving feature that suspends USB devices when they are not actively used.

To disable USB selective suspend, open Power Options as told in Option One [/B steps 1 through 9 ]in this tutorial: Power Plan Settings - Change in Windows 10

 

Leaving ExtHDD's power connected but not data (USB) connected)

Hi, all,

I have been in the practice of simply disconnecting the USB cables to my backup external (external powered) hdd's, and leaving the power (AC) to them connected. These drives are only used when I perform a _manual_ backup of my internal data, at which time I re-connect the USB cables. Would it be better to also disconnect the power to these drives (a bit tedious, but...) or do they only spin up when there is a data connection? Time between _manual_ backup varies, but approximately 1/wk. Please elaborate as needed. TIA!
