Windows 10: USB Mass Storage Device appearing in Device Manager despite none being connected

I really have no idea what this could be. Initially it was listed as an unknown usb device device descriptor request failed, and after unplugging everything connected via usb from my computer, it was still present. So I unplugged my power supply by the recommendation of a tech website and plugged it back in before rebooting my computer. Now, the device appears to be a USB mass storage device which I never plugged in. Is this a common issue, or is my device infected somehow?Under Bluetooth & Other Devices, its listed as USB2.0-CRW.

I was just given a mass storage device with vital data to transfer to my computer. when I connected the device there was an error in installing the USB mass storage device driver and I cannot find it in either the device manager nor my computer. I only
knew that it was connected when it brought the USB mass storage device driver error. I've tried a lot of solutions that were posted online but still, nothing happened. I really need the data in there, urgent help needed, please.

Hi there:

I have a Seagate USB portable drive and I mainly use it to connect to my ASUS Oplay! media player to watch the content on TV.

This device use to be an USB mass storage device.

Recently, I noticed whenever I eject my seagte portable drive, the device is showing as ""USB attached SCSI mass storage device" instead of a regular "USB mass storage device". This is when my media player stopped recognising the portable drive (showing
the device is not supported). The portable drive works fine on my Windows 10 PC, just not recognising by my media player anymore.

Wondering if anyone can point out how I can restore my portable hard drive back to a generic USB mass storage device instead of being a "USB attached SCSI mass storage device".

• Yes, I have an updated Windows 10 on my computer.
• I have been trying to google the solutions and these past couple days I have been trying to update my device driver in Device Manager. However, none of the item under "disk drive" or "storage controllers" has the option to update the drive to "USB mass
  storage device". I also tried to update the driver by pointing the update path to "C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository" but still can't seem to fix it.
• I am not sure if I have the updated USB driver on my Windows 10 PC. When I checked the USB controller under Device Manager, it says the software for the device is up to date.
