Windows 10: USB Mass Storage Driver Errors

I am having quite a strange issue and through extensive searching of the web I have come upon no answers for my situation.I am having a problem with the USB Mass Storage Driver. If I have an external drive connected to my computer when I boot up it will show up fine in windows. Full access and can read and write data. As soon as I eject the device from my computer the issues begin. Upon reconnecting the drive it will make the windows sound when a drive is connected but it does not populate in the file browser. It will show under device manager but it will claim an issue with the driver. If I r

Follow these steps to uninstall the driver.

1) Open Device Manager.

2) Right-click on USB Mass Storage Device and select Uninstall.

3) If prompted for the continue, click the OK button. If you see Delete the driver software for this device, click the box next to it, then click the OK button.

4) Restart your PC. Then Windows will reinstall the driver

 

"USB attached SCSI mass storage device" naming/labeling error

Hello everyone,

I was fiddling around with formatting one of my USB flash drive and for some odd reason, whenever I disconnect the flash drive it's now displaying "USB attached SCSI mass storage device" instead of "USB Mass Storage Device".





Here is the driver being installed for my flash drive at the moment:





Under normal circumstances, it should look something like this instead:





I've tried uninstalling this "SCSI" driver via device manager however, when I connect the same USB again, it'll show the same thing. I also tried installing the new driver for it though, it doesn't display the usual USB mass storage device anywhere on the list. When I install "Disk Drive" (as shown below), it'll install the SCSI driver, not USB Mass Storage Device driver.





All in all, how do you fix this naming/labeling problem of USB? I couldn't find anyone else having this problem except for one person, who has posted the exact same issue years ago: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/...6-0fe3c3aeba93
Yet, the thread didn't end with solutions so I'm lost as to what I need to do next in order to fix this problem.

• What are the troubleshooting steps you've done so far after your media player stopped recognizing the portable drive?
• Do you have the updated USB driver on the current operating system that you are using?
