Windows 10: USB (MTP) not working, driver not installing

I try the different methods mentioned in discussions. (Dont know how to add to that discussion)


1) doing update automatically and manually


2) use C:\window\inf


3) I try to do a clean boot and use the methods above. Same problem/message.


None worked.


MTP driver cant install and getting the following message:

"One of the installers for this device cannot perform the installation at this time"


4) download and run Media Transfer Protocol Porting Kit. No good also.


When I start the Add Harware Wizard, it displays to use an Installation disc that I dont have. How do I download and use?


please help.

USB (MTP) not working, driver not installing

I've been trying to connect my Lenovo K3 Note (Android 5.0.2) via USB (MTP). The drivers fail to install with windows update. The error shows as "Microsoft - Other hardware - MTP Device - Error 0x800f0217."

Things I've done to try and fix the issue (not in order):

• Installed Windows Media Feature Pack (KB3010081) and (KB3099229). As suggested on this Superuser.com thread.
• Updated USB drivers
• Enabled USB debugging mode on the device
• Used the troubleshooter. Returned "Unknown device doesn't have a driver"
• Reset the PC
• Plugged into different USB ports

I've hit a brick wall. My phone has worked fine over USB before. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Android Phone was not listed but you can find the MTP USB Device option and it finally worked!!!!!!

 

USB (MTP) not working, driver not installing

For me the following worked perfectly:

• Connect the phone to USB in MTP mode
• Right-click on wpdmtp.inf in C:\Windows\INF
• Select 'Install' from pop-up menu
• Allow to make changes to the system

My phone appeared in the system immediately after that.

Trying to install driver though the device manager resulted in failure with message that inf section is corrupt.
