Windows 10: USB PC interface cable not recognised

I have a diving database that I need to update which used to work fine when transferring data on my old XP, unfortunately that was many years ago but I now need to begin transferring to my old diving log. The software/old data is all there but when I connect the USB PC interface cable, it comes up with an error message saying the connection is not recognised. I have tried to up the driver a number of times but none are recognised or can't be found, so I'm at a loss at to what now to do.Can anyone advise if there is a driver I can download so I can use the transfer cable?I am not that techie

First, thanks for the response and sorry for the delay in replying... but have been trying out various routes.



1. Your suggestion does not even come up in the interface options i get...

2. Have also bought a CA-42 cable and tried that.

3. Have downloaded the latest drivers from the Nokia site and the latest PC Suite...

4. Have aggressively uninstalled by removing even registry entries

5. Have tried installing and rebooting in various configurations



Nothing works. The CA-42 cable goes as far as saying "New hardware detected" but then gives the "USB device not recognised" error. Just doesn't seem to recognise the driver.



Regarding the COM port suggestion... if i go through the Nokia Connection Manager and click the DKW-5/CA-42 options which are listed under Serial cables, alli get is a COM1 option...



Any other ideas?

Method 1: Troubleshoot

Windows 10 has a built-in troubleshooter to check and fix issues with hardware and devices. I would suggest you to run this troubleshooter to check if the issue is with your Drive. Refer these steps:

• Press Windows key +X, select Control panel
• Change the view by option on the top right to Large icons
• Click on troubleshooting and click on the view all option on the left panel
• Run the Hardware and devices troubleshooter

Method 2:

Remove and reinstall all USB controllers.

• Press Windows key + X, click Device Manager.
• In the list of hardware categories, find and expand
  Universal Serial Bus controllers.
• Right-click every device under the Universal Serial Bus controllers node, and then click
  Uninstall to remove them one at a time.
• Restart the computer, and let the USB controllers get reinstalled.

Plug in the removable USB device, and then test to make sure that the issue is resolved.

USB not recognised after years using it.

Thanks for your suggestion.
Uninstalling USB Device and booting up and reconnecting the Xpress USB flush drive did not work it was still not recognised on any of the 6 USB 2.0 or on any of the 7 ports on the USB 3.0 hub, although it is recognised on other pc. I am now transferring the data to another USB drive before I format the Xpress and see if it is recognised again in the original pc.
