    USB port changing state over time


    I'm using a current Intel NUC (NUC5i3RYH) running Windows 10 Home x64.

    I have this infuriating problem which may be related to the hardware but may also possibly be fixed in the OS. I've had no success so far changing power and sleep settings in the BIOS and Device Manager. I've had no luck with Intel directly.

    The symptom is that any (of two different) USB TV tuners I use seems to lose the quality of signal anything from 20 minutes to an hour after I access that channel. If I change channel and then return straight back it instantly fixes it.

    If it's possible to fix this in the OS, does anyone know any registry or other settings I could try? Alternatively some utility or task I could use to poll or wakeup the port periodically? I'm just lost on this and have spent over a month off and on trying to work out ways of making it work.

    Changed USB Ports, restarted PC, Windows on 2017 PC Ver. 1607 64Bit Windows Pro Full Version Automatic aupdates

    IRISPen Air 7 works fine with Iphone over Bluetooth. and works fine with USB cable in front USB Port.

    had the same problem. The phone would not charge and when connected to a usb port of my laptop, the usb port will be recognised as faulty. First time, they changed the usb port and got the problem again three days after the repair. They finalised changed

    Hey, thanks for helping out.

    It's Mediaportal's current TV Server. I have the same version on an old PC (Windows 7) which works perfectly with these USB tuners on that box.

    Mediaportal use the drivers for the AV device, so this is the next thing to check.

    The two USB tuners I use have separate drivers but the same symptom.

    USB port changing state over time

    It may be caused by USB3 instability; try to disable USB Selective Suspend under Advanced Power Options. And in Device Manager, find xHCI Root Hub and untick power saving checkbox in Properties, it may help too.
