Windows 10: USB port not responding after Win10 Pro ver1809 update

After Windows Ver1809 update. One of the usb port with a "SS" mark on it stop responding unless a USB HDD or thumb drive was connected to it.


On device Manager, the Intel USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller 1.0 (Microsoft) on Intel 100 Series/C230 Series Chipset Family (HM170)returned a device status: "this device is working properly". but on the events, it shows "Device not migrated". The USB Root Hub (USB 3.0) also shows "Device not migrated" on event. USB hub with keyboard,mice which connected to the USB Composite Device are also shows "this device is working properly" on device status and on the events, it shows "Device not migrated" as well. However, all my usb thumb drive and usb HDD works perfectly on this port.

USB Port Oddities


Ok, let's see it with pictures step-by-step. First right-click on the USB device and select Update driver software:





Then select Browse my computer for driver software (LAST option) :





The select Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer (LAST option) :





Then select the standard driver from the list and click next:





Click next/OK as required to complete installation. Repeat the steps for all Intel USB devices. Finally click on each USB root device and press DEL to delete it, reply YES when asked. After deleting all USB root devices restart the computer.

Toshiba Satellite c850 usb ports not working

Hi,

I suggest you to try updating the Universal Serial Bus Controller associated with the USB port and check if it helps.

To update the drivers from device manager follow the steps below:

• 
  Press Windows key + X and click on
  Device Manager.
  
• 
  Expand Universal Serial Bus Controller.
  
• 
  Right click on the driver and select Update.

USB PCI 4 port card stopped responding


Thanks for the help....Under USB controllers there is/was no yellow flags...?...here are the listed USB items under Universal Serial Bus Controllers....



Will try driver download from manufacturer.....how do I tell which of the listed USB devices is the 4-port add on card...this is a four port card
