Windows 10: Usb port randomly stops working on Windows 10

Hi!I'm having a problem with the usb ports of my windows 10 pc. Basically we have a Biochemistry analyzer which is connected via serial port to the pc. The results data are beeing tranfered via the pc through a prolific usb to serial cable to our Laboratory information system.Very often the transfer of data, randomly stops working because of the usb port and the only solution is to restart the pc.I already tried a couple of things like disabling the ''allow the computer to turn off this device to save power'' option. Disabling the usb suspending settings in the power management. Look for diff

USB port stopped working

I had a USB2 port on the front panel that was working for a year but then one day it was not.

I uninstalled / installed the device via Control Panel for both of the USB Composite Device listings but it made no difference. I thought it may be a bad connection but everything looked OK. Both ports had power according to a USB digital voltmeter.

On the motherboard I moved the cable going to the front panel from one of the USB 2.0 Headers to the other Header & everything worked. At least for a couple months. Now the same port on the front panel does not work again.

So I uninstalled / installed both USB Composite Device listings but it made no difference. Under Properties it says they are working properly.

In Control Panel I did not touch the USB controllers for either USB 3.0 listing or for the USB Printing Support.

The port was working a few days ago but now it is not. The only thing that really happened lately was a Windows 10 Security Update that was installed on 10-27-2022. Could that have changed something?

Anything is possible but it seems strange that the same front panel port stopped working no matter which mobo header is used. Could one of my USB thumb drives be going bad & when plugged in is shorting out something on the motherboard?

Any ideas & suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

USB 2.0 Ports Stopped working

Hello,

I recently noticed my USB 2.0 ports have stopped working, but my USB 3.0 port is functioning perfectly.

Steps i have tried:

- Restarting

- Searching for device changes in Device manager

- running troubleshooter

all these suggested fixes didn't remedy the issue, its a bit of an inconvenience that i only have one functioning USB port

USB ports randomly stops working - windows 10.

When playing games the usb ports randomly stops working. I have mouse and keyboard connected to my laptop. They will both not work until I restart the computer, and the last key i pushed until it happened will be as if i was holding it down. The keyboard
on the laptop will still work.

I have tried:

- Putting USB on suspended in power settings.

- Checked if there is problems with the USB ports and drivers in device settings.

- Have set "Allow the computer to shut down this unit to save power"to off.

Since I don't have a battery in the laptop at the moment, and it only runs on electric I don't think it can be a power problem.

When in game I can randomly hear the USB unplug sound. Sometimes it will be off for a second and still work. Other times it will stop work, until you restart computer.
