Windows 10: USB Ports are **switched off** and Fn keys revert back to their traditional functions...

I am new to this community, also the description is quite long but that's for to explain the problem. Also sorry if there are language issues, english is not my native language.It happened a few days ago, randomly, but my fn keys reverted back to their traditional functions instead of controlling volume, brightness, etc. and now I have to use them with fn+f5 for example for backlight. That is still ok, then i connected my phone to the laptop, through USB, and it didn't showed up, I tried different phone/cable/all ports, but none worked, then I tried with a different laptop and all worked, so t

Ummm, that is normal - depending on the function you are doing (assuming I understand what you are saying).

On a notebook, the Fn key is like a shift key that switches in a different set of functions for the F-Keys.

For example, in Windows pressing the F5 key typically refreshes the display. In File Explorer, it will refresh the displayed files. In a browser, it will refresh (reload) the webpage. But pressing Fn + F5 does something different, depending on your notebook. On my Toshiba notebook, if I hold down the Fn key and press F5, it switches the video output of my notebook between the notebook monitor, a connected external monitor, or both.

 

New laptop FN keys not working [Solved]

Exactly what I was used to do, pressing the FN key with an F key but that didn't work....
If I press the FN key I get f1 f2 f3 and so on.

It was just the other way around, but I figured it out now.*Smile

 

Way to permanently switch meaning of FN-keys with Non-FN function?

I need quite occasionally press keys on the top row of my keyboard like F2, F5, Print,....

To get them I always have to press additionally (just before) the <Fn> key.

I want to avoid this.

Is there a way to switch (forever) the meaning of Fn with Non-Fn keys?

Only for the top row of the keyboard.
