Windows 10: USB Ports completely not functioning

So what's going on is that my USB ports have stopped working completely. No USB device is even registered as being connected once plugged in. Some devices will work only if plugged in before boot keyboards, mice. With that, it's probably a software issue, and I've looked for weeks for a way to fix it. I've tried so much stuff; I've attempted to update drivers will crash device manager, uninstall & reinstall drivers also crashes, using Dell SupportAssist doesn't work, installing updates BSOD'd the laptop 7 times, editing the registry didn't work, using Microsoft Update Catalog

USB Port Oddities


Ok, let's see it with pictures step-by-step. First right-click on the USB device and select Update driver software:





Then select Browse my computer for driver software (LAST option) :





The select Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer (LAST option) :





Then select the standard driver from the list and click next:





Click next/OK as required to complete installation. Repeat the steps for all Intel USB devices. Finally click on each USB root device and press DEL to delete it, reply YES when asked. After deleting all USB root devices restart the computer.

USB 2.0 Ports Stopped working

Hello,

I recently noticed my USB 2.0 ports have stopped working, but my USB 3.0 port is functioning perfectly.

Steps i have tried:

- Restarting

- Searching for device changes in Device manager

- running troubleshooter

all these suggested fixes didn't remedy the issue, its a bit of an inconvenience that i only have one functioning USB port

• Have you tried connecting the peripheral devices to another computer to check if they will function?
• How old is the laptop?

in Windows 10. Here are the steps:

• Press the Windows key on your keyboard.
• Type Troubleshooting then press Enter.
• On the left side, click View all.
• Select Hardware and Devices.
• Click Next and see if it will find any problems.
