    USB Port Oddities

Ok, let's see it with pictures step-by-step. First right-click on the USB device and select Update driver software:

Click next/OK as required to complete installation. Repeat the steps for all Intel USB devices. Finally click on each USB root device and press DEL to delete it, reply YES when asked. After deleting all USB root devices restart the computer.

I hope this is detailed enough...

USB port not recognising Mouse or Keyboard on LAPTOP ( It is recognising Xbox one controller and phone charger)

Thanks for the reply, It is much appreciated.

    • I tried Safe boot (no luck)
    • All updates are fine.

All devices work in the second port. It just seems to be that 1 port that only recognises the xbox box controller and phone.

It just wont pick up mouse or keyboard. I'm going to try and see if any external drives will be picked up.

I could just buy USB splitter for the port that's recognising everything , but the problems really racking my brains.

I know that if it was a USB hardware issue , nothing wold be getting picked up at all.

The keyboard worked in the port for a day then just stopped recognising it.

USB port recognises phone and USB stick, but won't recognise mouse devices

    Hello,

I use a Lenovo Legion 7, running Windows 11 Pro, and one of my USB ports has abruptly stopped working exclusively with mouse devices. My phone and two different USB sticks seem to be unaffected. This issue seems to be rather specific in the fact it only affects mouse devices on one port, which is why I brought it here.

I have tried this with my Logitech mouse and my Wacom Cintiq display tablet, and neither were recognised. In addition, I received the "The last USB device malfunctioned" error. When I checked the issue with the device manager while making sure all my drivers were up to date, I found that the affected USB port had a USB event 442. Under both the Device Manager and the Bluetooth & devices menu, I can see that the port reset failed, and that there was a driver error in the latter.

I have already tried the following solutions:

    • turning off USB selective suspend
    • checking for updates on all USB drivers
    • uninstalling the affected USB port's driver (which hid the port from appearing in the device manager, even upon restart)
    • running the USB troubleshooter
    • restoring my system (which sent me into a bluescreen loop, presumably due to a driver conflict (though starting it up while disabling driver id did not help), upon which I reverted it again)
    • checking if the drive is partitioned (it was)
    • uninstalling both root hub drivers and restarting
    • power drain (1 hour)
I'm a bit wary about using regedit, so I haven't tried that yet.

While I can begrudingly survive without the USB port for now, I'm not fond of having to plug in my mouse or my Cintiq into the fast charge port until I get either a USB hub or a USB-C mouse if the issue remains unresolved. Any help is appreciated.

P.S. This is unlikely, but if it matters: My Logitech mouse (M335) is quite old and has been acting erratically lately (which I assume is a hardware issue, the left button is wearing out), and the affected port was exclusively used for said mouse. I seldom took it out.

EDIT: My mouse is suddenly much stabler in a different USB port, though still a bit faulty. I feel a bit bad for not switching it around sooner. (The USB port issue as a whole is still ongoing.)
