Windows 10: USB ports on laptop don't pick up microphone input when directly plugged in, but does when...

Hi I am currently using a Dell Inspiron 15 5510 laptop running on Windows 10. For the time that I've had it, the USB microphone that I've used with it has worked perfectly fine, but as of earlier today my laptop no longer detects input from the mic when it is directly plugged into the laptop. It does however pick up mic input if the mic is plugged into a USB hub that is plugged into the computer. The only thing of note that happened since it last worked was a few days ago I did a restart and system update, but after that it was working fine. I tried updating the driver for my mic and that didn

PC not picking up USB microphone

I purchased a PC a few weeks ago, and two days ago I plugged in my USB microphone for the first time, a Rode USB mic, only to find the PC isn't reacting to it being plugged in at all.

• This is not an issue with the microphone, I booted up my old PC yesterday, plugged in the mic, and it was automatically registered as an audio input device, both PCs run on Windows 10
  
• I checked the settings to see if it simply hadn't switched over to it, this is not the case, according to the drop down in my settings there are ''No Input Devices''
  
• This is not an issue with the USB ports, I have plugged multiple accessories including my mouse, keyboard, and a USB gaming controller into all avaliable ports, all work.
  

This is an issue I'm not understanding, I did try going into device management and reinstalling the USB drivers, this worked once, I did it and it then registered the microphone, and it worked as expected, but then I rebooted the system and the issue happened again. But this time reinstalling the drivers did nothing, I have done this again 5 or 6 times now to no avail. Since Microsoft apparently can't afford to employ people to know their system and help people who buy their products because what does customer support matter, I can only ask all of you for help.

 

Internal microphone no longer working after headphones were plugged in via USB-C port

As the title suggest, my internal microphone no longer works (and I believe it is no longer recognized) after I plugged in headphones into a hub that was plugged into USB-C port. Any suggestions?

 

All usb microphone inputs not working


So both my adapter for xlr to 3.5mm jack input and my newly purchased usb microphone are not recognised. I've tried updating the drivers, using different usb ports, uninstalling the drivers and letting windows do it manually. Every time though, it's listed as having issue's in device manager... Can some help?
