Windows 10: Usb Stopped Working

Hi, a while ago i had problems with my usb external drive. It has 300gb on there and i still have files on there i'd like to keep, so i can't format it.


I have tried another forums suggestions but all failed


Basically, it worked for a long time, then randomly stopped working When plugged in, the file explorer either freezes or takes very very very long to load anything until the usb is removed


I fixed it before by finding and mounting the usb but that's when i had no files on there so i didn't mind formatting it.


I have two drives on this one at the moment, One has the windows Iso fie and the other is my personal stuff.


in file explorer it shows up as the two separate ones E Win install

and D, only thing is, Win doesn't open if i click it, it takes long and gives me an error E:\ is unavailable then a long message about how its not found on the pc.

Same thing pops up for D


one problem with that too, the D drive doesn't show up with the name i gave it like it used to, now its just local disk, which i cant open.


I have tried disk management and re installing usb port 3.0. if by some miracle my usb shows up in disk management, i cant uninstall it or anything because no matter what i try, when the usb is in, it makes everything slow and anything related to managing the usb loads for long times and then fails. hope this is all descriptive enough, thanks in advance if anyone can or tries to help

USB mouse stopped working

Why has my usb mouse stopped working now that I have downloaded the latest update for windows 10? It is driving me insane. It works in chrome and when I move the list of emails received, but will not work inside the emails. I have tried all the suggestions
going (including uninstall, etc) but still it will not work.

 

USB 2.0 Ports Stopped working

Hello,

I recently noticed my USB 2.0 ports have stopped working, but my USB 3.0 port is functioning perfectly.

Steps i have tried:

- Restarting

- Searching for device changes in Device manager

- running troubleshooter

all these suggested fixes didn't remedy the issue, its a bit of an inconvenience that i only have one functioning USB port

This issue could occur if the flash drive is damage or Windows USB root hub is not working as expected, you can try the troubleshooting steps below to further narrow down to the root cause of the issue.

1. May I know, if the USB is working on another computer?
   
2. Which version of Windows is installed on the computer?
   
3. Are you aware of any recent changes made on the computer?
   

I suggest you to check the article
USB devices may stop functioning correctly when multiple devices connected to the same USB hub go
into selective suspend, follow the steps on this article and check if this helps you.



If you don’t have any data concern, you can
format the USB from disk manager (Applicable for Windows 10), check the topic
To format an existing partition (volume) from the article, however you will have to perform this steps on your USB drive. So, make sure the USB is connected when you perform the format, please be careful to select the USB drive, if the steps
is performed on wrong drive the data on the drive will be wiped.
