Windows 10: usb storage stick used to copy one drive onto troubleshooting

hello everyone!! my name is patty ,i am hoping someone can help me with my problem here,i stupidly plugged in a storage usb and decided to copy all my one drive onto it because i was running out of space on my one drive ,and i could not buy more storage ,anyways what i did when i copied them onto my stick ,i also copied my desktop items too,so when i unplug my stik,all my items on my desk top disappear .also when i try to look at certain things like photos and other files i get an error message telling me to make sure i plugged in my usb or i am connected to same network,i really do not unde

Installing windows off of a USB stick

Step By Step from vista:
From admin cmd prompt

1. diskpart
1a. list disk
2. select disk 1 (replace 1 with your usb drive)
3. clean
4. create partition primary
5. select partition 1 (replace 1 with your usb drive)
6. active
7. format fs=fat32
8. assign
9. exit

Copy Windows Vista's DVD ROM content to the Flash Drive

xcopy d:\*.* /s/e/f e:\ (d being your vista cd and e being your usb stick)

And that's it, boot off your usb disk

Please follow the steps to copy videos to flash drive.

• First, insert the USB memory stick into an available USB port.
• On Windows, this will bring up a window showing the memory stick is now seen as a drive on your computer (e.g., "Removable Disk" E: drive). You'll also get a menu of options for using the device. Select "Open folder to view files" at the bottom.
  
  Alternatively on Windows, you can also get to the drive by going to File Explorer by pressing
  Windows and E key, then click on This PC.
• To copy files to the USB memory stick, drag them from the Windows Explorer folder to the drive or right click on file and select Copy then open Flash drive, right click
  Paste.
• When you're done, right-click on the drive and select "Eject" so you can safely remove the drive.

How to reformat USB Recovery Drive

Part of the commands and results were missing from the image.

Open adminstrative command prompt and type or copy and paste:
diskpart
list disk
select disk #
(replace # with the disk number for the flash drive)
attributes disk clear readonly
exit


If the above steps work then you are set.
