  1. USB to UART cables comes up as device not in com port

I have a gigabyte g5 laptop that I have fully updated in every wayMicrosoft update, drivers ect. I cannot use my uart to USB cable to program two way radios. As it comes up as a device instead of in the com port so I can program the radios. I have no idea why it won’t work. The USB ports work fine. These uart cables come up as cp2102 to uart bridge controller. On other devices. I need help please!

    :)

    USB COM Port mess

    No luck yet.

Performed the steps as requested, plugged in Arduino. Doesn't show in Ports. Device Manager shows it in "Other Devices- CP2104 USB to UART Controller". With no driver installed ie. with a ! in icon.

    Next steps? Thanks.

Click next/OK as required to complete installation. Repeat the steps for all Intel USB devices. Finally click on each USB root device and press DEL to delete it, reply YES when asked. After deleting all USB root devices restart the computer.

I hope this is detailed enough...

    USB to UART driver problem

Since upgrading to Win 10 from Win7 I can no longer us a Data Acquisition device that uses a USB to UART controller. Nothing has changed hardware wise. Ran fine before the upgrade and still runs fine on my desktop running Win 7. I have already sent an email
to the vendor. Doubtful I will get a reply as they are a small company in Japan.

I have tried installing generic Windows USB to UART drivers re-installed the vendors driver, run the program in Win 7 compatibility mode. Device Manager says everything with the COM port is running fine. Still get an error when initiating the device.

I just looked at the Driver File Versions in Device Manager and both the usbser.sys and serenum.sys are different different than on my Win 7 machine. Pretty sure this is the problem. So how can I revert to the older file version? Or does someone have another
    suggestion?
