Windows 10: USB webcam screen freezes after 4-5min

The Problem: My USB 2.0 camera xiaomi imilab w88s works for about 4-5min then the image freezes, and I have to turn off and on to make it work again.

I've tried it on google meet and discord.

And also tried on different PC-s and different operating systems:

• on win10 and win7 the problem exists
• and there is no any problem on ubuntu so it is not the camera's fault

What I've tried to fix it:

1. Installing the latest windows updates.
2. Uninstalling and reinstalling the camera driver from Device-Manager.
3. Adding dword 32-bit value "EnableFrameServerMode" with 0 and tried it with 1/2/4 too value to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows Media Foundation\Platform if I set it here to 0, then the camera absolutely not working and also to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\wow6432node\Windows Media Foundation\Platform
4. Rechecking privacy camera setting at windows settingsIt's all set to ON.
5. Rechecking if antivirus blocking it it's not
6. Disabling USB power save options

None of those fixed the problem.


Is there anything else what I should try to fix it?

USB problem

I have difficulty booting up computer at usb ports detecting and I think of my webcam cause it.
The computer boot screen is having a big delay it freeze for 30 or 60 seconds at the usb scanning step. Sometimes in Windows it says Unknown hardware at windows opening. Could it be my usb ports that begin to sucks or my webcam is having trouble ? (No other usb devices plugged other than wireless usb key for keyboard-mouse combo)

Did you download the latest webcam drivers for Windows 10 and check?

I suggest you to follow the below troubleshooting and check with the issue:

  Disconnect the webcam from the USB port and wait at least 10 seconds.

  Restart the computer.
  
• 
  Wait until Windows fully loads, and then plug the webcam into a different USB port.
  
• 
  In Windows, type Device Manager into Search, and then select
  Device Manager in the search results.
  
• 
  Double-click Imaging Devices to expand the list of webcams.
  
• 
  Double-click a webcam device. The properties screen displays the Device status. If there are no Imaging devices, select
  Action, then Scan for hardware changes and see the results.
  

To automatically resolve several known problems with Windows recognizing the webcam, click the Microsoft Fix it Solution and try using the webcam again.
