Windows 10: USB wifi adapter disconnects when downloading games

I bought a new desktop and it came with 2 USB wifi dongles. To be honest, I'm not sure how they work exactly but I plugged one into the PC and one into the router. It does connect but disconnects when I try to download games from steam.It does show my network listed and that it's trying to connect but it doesn't connect at all.I've troubleshoot the network multiple times and it fixes it but goes off again. It says "A network cable is not properly plugged in or may be broken" and "problem with wireless adapter or access point"But the router works and everything else connects to it just fin

there are several reasons for a disconnect.
1) signal strength. being too far from the ap and something changing in the environment ( like closing a door). this is especially important for 5ghz as it has much lower range than 2.4ghz. if you're on 5ghz try dropping to 2.4 and see if it stabilizes.
2) noise/channel selection. in dense areas someone else's wifi ( or other wireless device) may be interfering with yours. selecting a different channel may help.
3) usb disconnect. the usb port may lose connection to the adapter for a second. trying a different usb port or an extension cable may yield better results. the extension cable may also help with the signal strength issue as you can move it around and see if you get better signal.
4) power saving, set your power saving to max performance on the usb ports and wifi.

 

Connection drops with USB Wifi adapter

Hi everyone,
since my laptop if far from my NetGear access point, I bought an external USB Wifi Adapter with antenna and it reaches very well my AP. Ookla Speedtest says the same speed as the wire connected devices.
The problem is when the download speed reaches its maximum rate (about 9 / 9.5 MB/s): the adapter stops downloading, ping to the router fails and the wifi icon on the tasktray turns into the world icon (no connection). I have to unplug the USB adapter and replug it or disconnect the wifi connection and reconnect it to have it working again.
If i take my laptop near the AP and use the internal Wifi connection, it doesn't happen, it never disconnects.
I made a try with another laptop and the problem is the same.
I think the problem is the wifi adapter, I already sent back it to Amazon and bought another one, with no luck.
The chipset of the USB adapter is Realtek 8812BU.
My Windows version is Windows 10 Pro 21H2 (build SO 19044.1415).

• Press Windows key +X, select Control panel.
• Change the view by option on the top right to Large icons.
• Click on troubleshooting and click on the view all option on the left panel.
• Run the Hardware and devices and Internet Connection
  troubleshooter.

Method 2: Download and install the latest firmware updates for the Wi-Fi adapter

Follow these steps to un-install the drivers:

• On the search bar type “ Device Manager”
• On the left pane locate “Network Adapter” and expand by clicking on it
• Right on the “ Wireless adapter” option and click “Uninstall’
• Download the latest Wireless network adapter driver setup file from the manufacturer’s website and install it.
