  2. USB WiFi adapter mounting/unmounting

    Hi Kevin,

Thanks for the help. Unfortunately I don’t have any restore points because I didn’t have the setting checked to create any. I performed a system reset and reinstalled Windows from the cloud to no avail, then I performed your list in command prompt and still no luck. I’m very confused as it was working perfectly fine for several months. I’m going to check the USB connections on my motherboard since I did build this PC myself and as I said before it makes the “chime” as if I am plugging and unplugging the adapter. On that note - it also shows that in my devices - it disappears as if I’ve unplugged it and reappears as if I put it back in. I’ll respond here if the connections are my issue.

  3. USB WiFi adapter mounting/unmounting

    Hi Leavingblues -

I'm Kevin B., I do apologize for the inconvenience that you're experiencing right now, let me help you sort things out.

Does the adapter works perfectly fine before? Are there any recent changes made on the computer before the issue started?

Kindly try to perform a system restore on your windows to reverse any changes made on the computer which unmounts/disconnects the adapter on your windows computer.

    Perform system restore

-This process will take your computer settings back to an earlier point in time where computer is working fine. If there's any changes made on your computer that removes the service, system restore should be able to fix the issue for you. To perform system restore please follow the steps below:

    1. Open the run box by pressing the Windows key + R and type rstrui.exe

    2. Once system restore windows open, normally it will suggest a restore point (sometimes it doesn't) if it does, select the 2nd option and hit next

    3. Select your desired restore point date and time and hit next and finish.

Windows will going to restart your computer to initiate system restore. System restore might take several minutes to complete depending on the current speed of your computer and the changes it will made. Applications and updates that was installed on the computer prior to the date selected will be removed. It is important that when system restore starts, process must not be interrupted.

    DISCLAIMER:

System Restore is a recovery tool for Windows that allows you to reverse certain kinds of changes made to the operating system. System Restore is used to return important Windows files and settings—like drivers, registry keys, system files, installed programs, and more—back to previous versions and settings. Being said all applications and changes made prior to the date selected will be removed and needs to be re-installed if its needed.

After the restore completes, kindly run the commands below once the computer connects to the internet

Open the command prompt as administrator

Type the commands below and press enter after each commands

    ipconfig /release

    ipconfig /renew

    ipconfig /flushdns

    Netsh winsock reset

    net localgroup administrators localservice /add

    fsutil resource setautoreset true C:\

    netsh int ip reset resetlog.txt

    netsh winsock reset all

Close the command prompt and restart your computer

Check if the same issue appears

Hope this will help and have a bless day!

    Thanks.

    USB WiFi adapter mounting/unmounting

    Hi all,

The problem I'm encountering is my Wifi adapter isn't connecting to the internet reliably. It started happening out of nowhere. I bought a new one but still the same issue - every couple of minutes the computer makes the "chime" as if I'm plugging and unplugging the adapter, except I'm not touching it. When it is "plugged in" long enough to connect the the internet, it's a spotty connection (my network is 170 Mbps download/21 Mbps upload, and the adapter can handle that plenty, but the computer gets 2 Mbps/.9 Mbps). I've tried drivers, updates, restarting the PC, nothing seems to work. I plugged the adapter into another computer so I know it's not the adapter. I'm writing this on my MacBook because I can't connect for long enough to post from my PC...

    Some specs:

    Windows 10 Pro version 21H2

    AMD Ryzen 7 5700G

    MSI B550-A PRO motherboard

    16GB Crucial Ballistix 3200 MHz

    Thanks!
