    Hello,

I am trying to install a camera on my new computer running win10 as the old one, but I am experiencing some problems:

The camera is supposed to use a bus speed of 5Gbs (USB3.0) over a USB2.0-B connector (microscope camera).

For some reason, I had no problem with my old computer (only USB3.0 ports) but with this new one, where there's only USB3.2Gen1 or Gen2 ports, I keep experiencing the following:

    https://preview.redd.it/ifze9kl7tff...bp&s=66324f20de1cef7df9c90ff18bee14385b127355

Is there a way to test the actual speed of USB port/cable?

Are the USB3.2 ports recognising the "USB2.0 cable" and thus limiting the speed?

Why the same camera, with the same cable still works on the older PC(USB3.0)?

Is there a way to force win10 to use the highest speed over a 2.0 cable?

As I'm writing the camera works again (on the new computer), but how do I prevent this error happening again?

Rhetorical question: The new USB3.0 B connectors are entirely different from the old ones, why the camera is even running on a USB2.0 cable asking for USB3.0 capability ?!?!?!

    Thanks for all the idea.

  2. USB3 Hub works on usb2 port, but not on usb3 port

    USB3 Hub with 1x usb3 & 2x usb2, works on usb2 port, but not on usb3 port

On both Win 7 & 10 the same.

    I checked the working usb2 driver - iusb3hub.sys

I have a pure usb3 hub that works, with the same iusb3hub.sys driver.

when trying to update/correct the driver for the "unknown device" on the usb3 port, it only accepts ".inf" files.

There are several other devices that don't work on the usb3 port.

    Takers?

USB3 HDD slower than ext laptop HDD USB2==>SATA cable

    Hi there

WD passport (small self powered 2 TB USB3 drive) has appalling performance compared with an OLD laptop HDD that I connect via a USB2==>SATA cable to USB2 port.

Same file (2GB mp4 video) copied to a directory on the SSD.

External laptop HDD connected via USB2==>SATA cable to a USB2 port -- 41 Mb / sec on average -- Ok for a USB2 device of this type

USB3 device connected to the laptops USB3 port = 31 Mb / sec on average. Same file !!!

So obviously there are USB3 devices that don't perform at anything like the rated USB3 speed -- so don't buy a USB3 self powered portable drive and assume it will give you much better speed than USB2 - it won't.

Some might do but a lot of the smaller self powered "passport" types will leave you less than impressed - especially as Laptop HDD's aren't renowned for their speed anyway !!!!. So a USB3 drive performing worse than a laptop HDD -connected externalyy via a USB==>sata connector ??.

Is USB3 really that good or are we just being conned to buy "newer hardware"

    Cheers

Wireless Mouse stops working when external HDD plugged in to USB3 port

I have a minor but annoying problem and can't find a solution....

My wireless mouse stops working when an external USB3 HDD is plugged in to USB3 port. The mouse is about 3 feet away from the receiver.

My mouse is a Logitech M310.

    • I don't have the problem if a USB 2 external HDD is connected to either a USB2 or USB3 port.
    • I have moved the mouse receiver to different ports on both the front and back of the computer but this doesn't change anything.
    • If I move the mouse very close to the receiver (a couple of inches), it works so it seems that the wireless range is reduced when the USB3 HDD is plugged in.
    • If I connect a wired mouse, it works fine.
    • I have 2 USB3 ports and the problem is the same on both.
    • If the USB3 HDD is connected to a USB2 port, the mouse works normally.
    • I changed the battery in the mouse but this didn't help.
    • the USB3 HDD is a WD Passport that is self powered through the USB port.

    Any suggestions?
