USBIEUpdate stopped working

On startup often get "USBIEUpdate stopped working" reported in reliability monitor.

Everything seem ok and all usb devices and ports are working OK.

Running Windows 10 on a Dell Inspiron 5759 laptop.

What causes this and how do I fix it?

Have you been able to identify which Windows update is causing the conflict? I've been experiencing the same issue (USBIEUpdate stopped working, in Reliability Monitor) every time Dell SupportAssist or Dell Update runs, since 5/28/22.

There's a 14-page thread in the DeLL forum discussing this problem,

and on page 14, a handful of people are reporting that it [somehow] appears to be solved. I just ran DeLL Update on my system... successfully... without it generating any USBIEUPDATE errors in my reliability monitor. I suggest others who have reported the problem try again now to confirm [or refute].



[If anyone is running Windows Defender for their A-V, be sure it is up to date first, as one source alleged there was a (temporary) bad interaction between that and DeLL Update / SupportAssist.]
