Hello, I already had some issue with my inspiron 1750. Refering to my previous thread here.
Now its 2nd time my usbs aint working. 1st time it got fixed when i took hdd to another oc and did uncheck of allow this device to turn pc off in device manager. I tried this again plus uninstalling some usbs and it doesnt help. Windows sometimes even spam me with pop up msg of this issue.
i took a screenshots, these two msgs keep popping out

Reinstalled the firmware (202MB download) with a brand new install - made no difference. Any other thought please?

    Thanks is advance,

  5. Hi Zhejr

That is not a spam message. That message is telling you either the device malfunction or Windows doesn't know which driver to use.

Do you know which device you plugged in when the message appeared?

Yes your phone can charge as the electrical power is still present.

In your device manager are any devices showing with an yellow Exclamation mark? If so uninstall that device.

I would also unplug all USB devices, unplug laptop, remove battery, hold power key down for 20 seconds, let sit for five minutes and restart. I would restart with only essential USB devices, better none.

Once we isolate device then you can get updated drivers.

Hiya Ken. No yellow devices in DM. Problem begun when I had both mouse and keyboard plugged in.
Unplugged power cable, removed battery, put battery back in, held power button for 20s but it seems that if I dont let it go sooner laptop wont turn on.

Btw by spam I ment that thise msgs pop out non stop, they never stop even if nothing is plugged in via usb

Thank you for the kind words.

Okay now we are getting somewhere. You should not be getting these messages and I now understand spam comment.

    You have a problem.

Next time it happens you need to go to your event viewer and find the event. (I'm expecting one will be created, of course I could be wrong.) You can copy and paste into text file and post when you find right one.

I'm thinking the issue is mouse as that is only thing plugged in all the time. Not 100% sure. Could you share what it is. May be uninstall in device manager and let it rediscover by clicking on scan for new hardware icon in device manager. My icon is right most.

    Hiya Ken,
Sorry I've been a bit busy. I am using both mouse and keyboards now, and I never got a USB pop-up since it got fixed.
I decided to buy a new desktop machine(will be still using laptop too). I apologize for bit off-topic question, but is win10 now free?
Some of my friends told me it is, and I'll need to install OS to that new desktop I intend to purchase. Im fine with using un-activated version too.
    Cheers

Win10 was never free. Free to upgrade, yes - but not free for a machine that doesn't already have a qualifying OS installed and activated. If you by a new PC without any OS and install Win10 yourself then you'll need to purchase a licence before it will activate.

An upgrade still seems to get activated, but for how much longer is anyone's guess. That's what your friends were talking about.

  11. Glad to hear USB has straighten out. Bree's message is very accurate. If I were buying I would be buying with an O/S unless I was a builder.
