  2. Use C:\Users as a partition's mounting point

    Intro:

Windows 11 is hungry for disk space. It slowly eats away at the C: drive and makes me frequently restore factory settings to make it viable for use. Anyone who works with WSL, Docker, IDEs, SDKs... knows what I'm talking about. And we don't have time for that.

    Current situation:

On my device I have two storage units and I would like to do a distribution to better organize the data.

The main drive is an M.2 with 256GB of capacity. It is relatively small, but changing it is not possible. It contains the hidden system partitions and the partition that is the C: Drive.

The second storage unit is a 1.8TB SSD divided into two partitions. Partition D: with 1TB and partition E: with the rest.

    Proposal

My idea is to mount the E: drive in the C:\Users folder. Then all user data would fall into that partition without changing any default path settings.

Note: I have already tried changing the library paths, the user folder path and the storage units where the system should store new data and programs. But many programs don't respect these settings, throwing everything as C:\Users\%username% anyway, which ends up resulting in several errors.

    Problem

I can only mount drives to a folder if it is empty and the C:\Users folder already contains user data.

So I rebooted with a Windows USB stick, went to troubleshooting and started the Command Prompt, in an attempt to move the user folders to the E: drive and mount the drive with diskpart. But I get Access Denied error when trying to move the folders.

    Question

How to move user folders contained in C:\Users to drive E: and mount this partition in the folder?

How to mount the user folder to another partition

I found that my user folder takes too much space on my disk C which has only 120GB. I cannot install more software which must be installed on disk C like visual studio. And as time goes on, appdata directory will be larger and larger. When install the
system, how can I mount the user folder to another partition like I do with linux. What can I do ?

    Use C:\Users as a partition's mounting point

Is it posible to stop an ESP partition in my C: drive to show as a local disk?

    Help, please.

Currently using a home-built desktop PC; I cloned the old HDD system of the previous PC to an SS drive in the new PC and upgraded to Windows 11. After that I had not been able to make Windows 7 Backups.

I have followed a lot of suggestions from these forums, but no solution found.

It seems to be related to the junction point or reparse point (reparse point points to a volume employing FAT file system.) They suggested to check its properties and it is supposed to show "Type is listed as Mounted Volume", but in my case it says "File folder". They suggested to delete the folder, which I did, but when I later checked it was there again.

Checking the partitions in my system drive. I noticed there is a "Primary-FAT32 (LBA) ESP" partition which shows as a local disk

So, my question is: is it posible to stop that ESP partition in my C: drive to show as a local disk?
