Windows 10: Use cellular network only for connections to specific subnet or disable internet.

Good day I have a USB dongle hauwei 3131 and a SIM that is provisioned on an APN. The APN has internet access, meaning that when the pc connects using the dongle it starts using internet via dongle and doesn't use the fibre through ethernet connection any more. I've tried firewall blocking all connections on the dongle, but then nothing works, windows doesn't fall back to ethernet.Also tried changing the metric on both adapters, but that doesn't change behaviour.Is it possible to limit connection via USB dongleDial-Up Adapter only to as specific subnet? Or how do I get Windows to stop us

1. Open Admin command and type: ipconfig
   
   
   
2. Win+X->Control Panel->Netwok and Sharing Center
   Follow the screen shot. This should disable internet access from this PC but allows access to local device(s)
   NOTE: Use the IP & Subnet Mask from step 1. Leave Default gateway & DNS Server blank
   
   
   

 

Cellular/SIM connection not available/disappearing

A faulty cellular adapter is one of the possible reasons why the cellular connection is disappearing from the laptop. A disabled adapter in the Network Connections Settings can also be the cause of this issue. We suggest you to enable the cellular connection
in the Network Connections settings. You can follow the steps below:

• Press the Windows key.
• Type View Network Connections.
• Press the Enter key.
• Right-click on the cellular adapter and click Enable.

This problem has appeared again and I tried this but the cellular adapter was already enabled. The system still indicated there was no connection. This is the third Verizon SIM card we've sent to this user and I confirmed the card is active and there's nothing
wrong with our Verizon account. Also, it was working for a while the other day and then recently stopped again. It appears as if the laptop randomly stops detecting the card. This has happened to at least two other users over the past month as well. But for
this one user in particular, it seems to be an ongoing problem.

Given that the network connection settings is properly configured and there's no problem with your internet service provider, it seems that the network adapter itself is having an issue. In this case, we suggest contacting the device manufacturer for a hardware
checking.
