Windows 10: Use even more space after compress the drive, why?

Is anyone know why the compress action make the drive use even more space, i always compress my other partition or another harddrive/ssd, but not my system drive, cause i know my 8th gen i5 laptop will definitely slow down a bit if i compress the system drive, it will definitely will not keep up, but lately my system drive is getting almost full, i need to uninstall some programme that not use so often, just keep the important software i use everyday, but the times go on, the drive still getting almost full, it has only 2.5G left, so i decided to compress the system partition aka the C drive,

Files in C: drive automatically compressing?

As you may already know, if this feature is on, every new folder/file you add starts off automatically compressed. If you would like to turn it off for the whole drive, kindly follow these steps:

• Start File Explorer . In the left pane, right-click on the drive that you would not want to be compressed.
• Click Properties.
• Make sure that the Compress this drive to save disk space box is unchecked.
• Click OK then Apply.

Is "compress OS Drive" worth it on SSD?

My SSD is running out of disk space, and I see that "Compress your OS drive" is suggested as a means to save some disk space.





My questions:

1. I'm not sure whether there are any performance penalty associating with compressing the OS drive.
   
2. And I'm not even sure whether this option is the same with "Compress this drive to save disk space" at the C drive property as per below. This option does seem to come with performance penalty.

I suggest you to connect the USB flash drive to a different computer and check.

First back up all the data from your USB drive to another location.

Let us try the following steps, and check if it helps.

Step 1: I suggest you to refresh the drive letter and then try to rescan the drives that are connect to the computer and check.

To refresh drive letter:

• Open Computer Management (Local).
• In the console tree, click Computer Management (Local), click
  Storage, and then click Disk Management.
  
• Click Action, and then click Refresh.
  
• Once you have refreshed connect the new zip drive and to update hardware information, click Rescan Disks instead.
  

Step 2: For unallocated space on USB drive

• 
  Press the Windows key, and type Diskpart.
  
• 
  Click the result to open the DiskPart command prompt window.
  
• 
  In the command prompt window, type list disk and hit Enter.
  
• 
  The removable USB drive or hard disk will be shown under
  Disk 1.
  
• 
  Type in the following commands and hit Enter.
  

select disk 1

Clean

create partition primary

• 
  The first command selects your removable USB drive.
  
• 
  The Clean command deletes all the current partitions present on the USB drive.
  
• 
  The Create primary partition creates a fresh partition and allocates all the unallocated space on this fresh partition.
  
• 
  Type Exit to close the command prompt window.
  
• 
  Unplug your USB drive and plug it back again.
