Use Powershell to Get Your Wi-Fi Password

So I know something that may or may not be helpful to other people. If you want to find your Wi-Fi password but can't figure out how to find it on your phone or computer, you can simply use Windows Powershell. I suppose this is already listed by Microsoft, but just in case I made a post about it. I also have a video showing how you would do it listed below. If you want to find your password, open Windows Powershell or CMD and type in the following command;netsh wlan show profilesWhen you do this, it will list all the routers your computer has connected to, and the SSID of said interfaces

    :)

  2. Trouble Changing Wi-Fi Password

I've been following the following steps to change my Wi-Fi password for some time:

    1. Launch Control Panel.
    2. Click "Network and Internet."
    3. Click "Network and Sharing Center."
    4. Click "Wi-Fi...."
    5. Click "Wireless Properties."
    6. Click the Security tab.
    7. Check "Show characters."
    8. Enter the password in "Network security key."
Those steps have been working just fine, but today I discovered a new wrinkle. If I change the password inside the router first, "Wi-Fi..." doesn't appear in step 4. This isn't much of a problem at home, because I can just change the password in Control Panel before I change it inside the router, but it would be a problem at a public hotspot, or something of that nature. I also tested Brink's instructions in "How to Connect To a Wireless Network in Windows 10," but they don't work for me either. How can I fix this?

Windows 10 laptop is connected to the Wi-Fi, but don't give me the opportunity to enter a password.

    Hi,

I suggest you to follow the below steps to delete the connected Wi-Fi device and try adding it again.

    • Type View Network Connections in the search bar and click on the same.

    • If your Wi-Fi device is listed, right-click on the device and click on
      Delete.

    • Now, try connecting to the Wi-Fi and check if it prompts for the password.

Hope this helps. Keep us updated with the issue to assist you further.

    Thank you.

    problem of WI-FI Password

    Hello Nitin:

Thank you for posting to the forum regarding your Wi-Fi connection issue. Errors like this tend to be related to the phone getting the proper network information or security protocol issues.

There are a couple of things we suggest you do:

    • First, power cycle your phone. If you can pull the battery do so for about a minute, replace and reboot the phone. Once you have powered back on, try connecting to the network again.
    • If possible, power cycle the network you are attempting to connect too. This will require you disconnect the router and modem for about 2 minutes and then reboot the devices and try connecting again.
    • Next, try to enter the network details from scratch,
      http://www.windowsphone.com/en-us/how-to/wp7/start/connect-to-a-wi-fi-network
. Follow the steps to connect to a hidden network.
    • Finally, connect to another Wi-Fi network. If you are able to successfully connect, verify what security is running on this network.
Please provide us details as to what security protocol is running on the network you are having trouble connecting to.
