Use Win10 as main OS ??

    Hello.
I know Microsoft does not recommend using windows 10 as the main OS, but I have to change my mainboard and CPU next weekend, and therefor I want to do a clean install. But do I install Windows 8.1again? Or is it safe to take the chance and use Windows 10 as Main OS allthough there are no viruskillers that works (except Windows Defender).
As I understand the news about Windows 10 it is more than 3 month away (and maybe even 6 month).

Anybody here using it as main OS today? *Smile

    :)

After Win 10 upgrade BSOD error and restart loop, VIDEO MEMORY MANAGEMENT INTERNALERROR

Same problem after latest Win10 update...

So... I reinstalled win10, disable all updates, kill all telemetry options and unused stuff... And install Arch linux as Main OS. Now - windows only for games.

    F**k off, M$!

    Recover a Win10 machine

I have a computer that I upgraded in place from Win7 to Win10. The main drive has failed. I would like to replace the main drive with an SSD and reinstall the license for Win10 on the computer. I have no media, since I did it over the Internet and I can
only access some of the files on the drive by mounting the drive from a portable Linux boot from USB. The OS is fried.

I am not sure where to start.

Same here, since 1st of October on all my rigs.

  6. Interestingly my plan use the latest Windows 10 build as my main OS, i am going to do this tonight *Smile

I store nothing on my OS Drive (Well applications/programs yes...) but all personal files etc.. are stored on a central NAS box which is backed up to both the cloud and external drive therefore no matter how bad a build/update may be it won't be an issue, i have nothing to lose.

I have been running 10 in a virtual environment, now time to use it full time! *Smile

It's a technical preview. Therefore is not recommended for daily usage (as main OS). I wouldn't recommend it for main OS. You can perform a dual boot (Windows 8.1 & Windows 10), that's my current scheme and my recommendation.

Use Win10 as main OS ??

I've been using Win10 as my primary for quite some time and it's working just fine for me at least.

  9. As with any Alpha, Beta, Preview etc... release it's never recommended on a live/production environment however it is also a user preference approach based on their personal circumstances / kit / setup.

My setup means it really doesn't matter how buggy an updated/build may be as there is nothing to loose and realistically i could have Windows 8.1 fully up and running within the hour, well i say within the hour, i can have my exact build of 8.1 back up within 10 mins as i will install 10 on a separate hard disk and have my 8.1 hard disk put away.

Been using it alone on Asus laptop with no major problem.
I wanted to do a clean install of build 10041 and followed Supersites guide downloading the ESD and converting it to an iso.
    Went so smooth it's scary.

Main OS since October. Perfectly happy with the decision, but made sure I could go back if needed. Not worried about that now, though.

Use Win10 as main OS ??

I personally won't be installing 10 onto bare metal until RTM, only because I can't be arsed to keep unplugging my other SSDs/HDDs to perform clean installs. I can't wait to get in a dual boot.

It still get hiccups every now and then. But not a bad idea to use as main OS but if your machine can accommodate 2 hard drives, install 8 and 10 on each drive. It's always nice to have a backup OS in case the other is having a bad day. *Smile

I have been using Windows 10 as my main OS since build 9841.. It actually is the only OS that booted in like 3 minutes rather then all the others i tried taking around 10 so i'm happy with that.. Small issues on the way but nothing real bad. I Love it!
