Windows 10: Used PC Invoice for For Windows and Suprise: Volume MAK Licence

Hello I have probably really strange question.Four Years ago I bought a PC with as was listed in the offer WINDOWS 10 PRO Invoices for parts included.The seller send me Invoices for the parts I bought and on one of these there was Windows 10 pro listed. PC was preinstalled with Windows 10 pro and it was activated. The thing is at the time I was wondering why I dont have a key for Windows. When asked seller send me a VBS script to extract the key but said I dont need to worry since it is embedded with mainboard / processor so It will activate anytime I reinstall windows.And that was the fact I

It depends on the source of that licence . . .

A MAK licence is a volume licence generally supplied to companies or organisations.

Each MAK licence will have a set number of activations allowed on that licence, if that number has been reached, then the Licence count on the MAK licence would need to be reset, if there are activations to spare on that licence, then you would have no problem
activating that licence on another PC

Whoever purchased that licence would need to reset the activation count on the licence . .

 

Transfering a MAK volume key to another computer

I bought a new computer with windows 10 home. I want to transfer my hardrives to the new one but I would rather use the windows 10 pro OS. My copy is a MAK volume channel, would I need to deactivate the key on the previous computer to use the key
on the new one?

I made a system restore point, are there any other steps I should worry about before attempting the migration?

There are two new entries in the Diagnostic report.

1. Activation Scenario Code:

2. ProductKey Code:

Both are blank on my PC.

My guess is 1. above relates to this VAMT Step-by-Step Scenarios (Windows 10) | Microsoft Docs - if so non-volume users won't be affected.

No idea about 2. - there are more than enougn PK entries already!... was hoping some more digital licencing stuff would come up.

Gonna have to do some more digging and testing,,,
