    Greetings,

    I've been a Windows person for almost 3 years now. In Appleland I never had to sweat virus activity. In Windowsland I've had to explore how and where people get viruses. (Morbid curiosity.) I now know the type of dicey sites that infect, but something about Windows Defender confuses me something silly.

    Defender runs Quick Scans all the time. I think only once in 3 years has Defender found anything that way. However, when I run a FULL scan -- that's typically when stuff is found.

    If my question isn't obvious at this point it goes a little something like this: why doesn't Defender run full scans more often?

    Windows Defender- Not seeing an automatic daily quick scan

    Installed Windows 10 Anniversary update which included the new cloud version of Windows Defender and so far note that there does not seem to be automatic daily quick scan as in previous version. Last automatic scan was on 9/22 so did manual scan on 9/28
    & 9/30. Any suggestions?

    Windows Defender - Quick Scan

    Windows defender no longer offers a quick scan option.

    My options are:

    • Scan
    • Advanced Scan
    • Full Scan
    • Custom Scan
    • Windows Defender Offline scan
    Whichever option I check, the scan will need to run for hours to complete.

    Is a quick scan available?

    How do I restore this feature?

    I firmly believe that this is an error. Add this to the 1809 bug list.
    Try forcing another Quick Scan and post back.

    Defender using Quick Scan but I want Full Scan: I've scheduled a Defender weekly run (which wasn't easy) but I find that it's using the Quick Scan option. I'd like it to do the Full Scan option.
