Windows 10: User account disappeared

Hello,I recently opened my windows 11 laptop after not using it for a week. Upon boot up, my user profile seems to be missing I have only ever had one user profile since this is a personal laptop. My only option to log in to an account is “New user” and a password is requested. There is an option to reset the password but when clicked it says my password is managed by my system administrator. There are no options to switch user accounts. The only other options I have are “internet”, “accessibility”, and “power”. None of these seem to be useful in getting back to my original user account. Remove account

I suggest you backup your personalized files first before removing the account.
To delete an account, follow these steps:

1. Press WIN + X keys and click Command Prompt (Admin) from the menu.
2. Type the following command and press Enter. Replace test with the name of your sister's account. Code:

I would suggest you to start the computer with hidden admin.



Safe mode is a diagnostic mode for Windows that starts your computer in a limited state. Only the basic files and drivers necessary to run Windows are started. This helps us in identifying whether the issue is due to some third party
programs conflict. The word Safe mode appear in the concern of your monitor to identify which windows mode you are using.

Step 1: Safe mode

• Type settings in search and click on Settings.
• Click Update and recovery, and then tap or
  click Recovery.
• Under Advanced startup, tap or click Restart now.
• Once your PC restarts, on the Choose an option screen, tap or click
  Troubleshoot.
• If you don't see the Startup Settings option, tap or click advanced options.
• Tap or click Startup Settings.
• Tap or click Restart.
• On the Startup Settings screen, choose the Safe Mode.
• Sign in to your PC with a user account that has administrator rights.

Step 2: Active hidden admin account

• Press Windows + R key on the keyboard.
• Type cmd in the run bar.
• In Command Prompt type this command: net user administrator /active:yes
• Press Enter and Restart the computer.

Try to create new user account now.

If you are able to do so deactivate the hidden admin account.

For that follow the step :

• Press Windows + R key on the keyboard.
• Type cmd in the run bar.
• In Command Prompt type this command: net user administrator /active:no
• Press Enter and Restart the computer.

No Administrator account! Just Disappeared

1 Please clarify what "me" is. Is "me" the folder within C:\Users that was associated with your user account? 2 Run this command in any Command prompt or Powershell window and post the results Code:

- If any of the entries relate to the disappeared account then please say so & tell us which one it is. 3 If any of the entries do indeed relate to the disappeared account then run this command in any Command prompt or Powershell window and post the results Code:

where username is the relevant entry from step 2. If you are in any doubt at all you can run this command & post the results for every entry you get from step 2. I'd rather see too much data than not see the data that's relevant. And we are in different timezones so pinging back & forth with further data requests is going to use up that short period when we're both online at the same time. 4 To help interpret your reply, please explain exactly what you mean by the account having disappeared. - What did you see? - What were you doing at the time? - Is there any chance that you were experimenting with the command that can be used to disable a user account? - Does anybody else have access to your computer? - Have you scanned for malware? I expect to suggest the same procedure as Bree suggested but I just want to get the current situation clear first because I don't recall having heard of an account suddenly stop existing anymore. Minor items - When the job's all done you can delete the defaultuser0 'user account'. It's a relic of Dell's pre-delivery setting up and ought to have been automatically deleted before you ever saw it. - You should also disable [not delete] the Guest account.
