Windows 10: User accounts confusion

    User accounts confusion


    No idea where else to post this...


    Several years ago I bought my current system from eBay, and it arrived with a user account set up call it "BLUE1" that I was unaware of, as I went through my own personalization, creating a user account, etc. Soon I realized there were missing files, downloads, docs, pix. Finally found them in User\BLUE1\docs, etc.

    I never could figure out how to remove/replace it with my own. I just reinstalled the OS. The problem is still there. Some files go ti BLUE1, some go to my own user account.

    I don't want to do a totally clean install that preserves nothing, if possible. If not, if that's the only solution, then I'll just live with it; but if there is a way to merge everything into one or remove the original, I'd appreciate any feedback. It seems to be a high level account, I have an Admin and it won't let me look at much of anything under that user.

    The other reason I suggested this is that users can add characters to their username that are not alphanumeric (e.g. user*). This confuses things somewhat when looking at the list.

    Remove account

    I suggest you backup your personalized files first before removing the account.
    To delete an account, follow these steps:
    1. Press WIN + X keys and click Command Prompt (Admin) from the menu.
    2. Type the following command and press Enter. Replace test with the name of your sister's account. Code:

    Try the following steps to check for the user account details:

    • Type manage your account in the search bar and click on
      Manage your account.
    • Select Your emails and contacts from the left pane and check if it’s your account or your husbands account.
