Windows 10: User acount missing but data and login are still there?

Hi there, i have what i feel is a unique problem here.

my user acount has seemed to disapear in explorer, and the Desktop has had all the icons normally there missing.
however i can still log into the acount its the only user profile and if i go too explorer and type C:\Users\[username] the files all come up.
nothing seems to have reduced functionality apart from the desktop icons being wiped clean

i don't have any idea how to even start trouble shooting this? is my computer going to start deleting data?

this is stressing me out as im currently madly trying to backup alot of work, but my main usage from this computer is music production, with litterally thousands of Wav files, hundreds of project files, midi files and plugin programs all working in a web of connectedness, retreiving backup data can often involve weeks of mind numbing work, re-installing and finding files for each indicidual project

any leads?

It is strange if the guest acount is not supportd anymore you still can find it in the settings, even there is a groupe named guests.



I already did more a less what you advised, besides that i made the new user member of the group guests. It definetely behaves different from a normal user now. window comes with the message a guest cannot use OneDrive, so the guest properties are recognized.

so is this a feature or a bug?

Now the question how to set up the new acount in such a way that the user has almost no rights. any advise is welcome

Windows users at login

I cannot see all of my user accounts on the login screen on a new Windows 10 laptop. I have an account for my son and it does not appear as a user on the login screen. It is listed if I display the users with the CMD prompt. The only account I see is my
account which is an admin. His account is a user. All the suggestions I've seen are not available on home edition.

With regard to your query, the Guest account in Windows 10 is gone as of build 10159. If you will try some methods to enable the Guest account, the only account that will show from the login screen will be your Administrator account. If you would like to
have an account with less access, we suggest that you create a local user type of account by following the steps below:

• Select the Start button then select Settings
  > Accounts > Family & other people > Add someone else to this PC.
• Click on I don't have this person's sign-in information.
• Select Add a user without a Microsoft account.
• Type a User name for the local account.
• You can leave the password blank if you don't like to put a password for the account.
• Click Next.
