Why can't Folder Objects have user-defined metadata fields? so needed for quick sorting/searching purposes e.g. I have a very logical Folder Structure, but, my files and work demand that I have lots and lots of subsolders in each parent folder. Sometimes I need to sort those subfolders by Name, but, sometimes I need to sort them by another criterion, like a self-defined Date, Category or Project Status field/column without changing the folder structure. I know I can populate the Comments field only using "InfoTip=..." in a desktop.ini created for every such subfolder, but, this is a re

Mobile BCM user defined (customer) fields.

In my desktop Outlook 2007 with BCM, my contacts have 9 standard fields and 12 user-defined (customer) fields.

When trying to synchronize in Windows Mobile 6.1 on a HTC Touch device, no user - defined field is synchronized (and only 7 of the 9 standard fields: Other phone number and Company main phone number are missing following a Microsoft choice, as has already been
    accounted for).

How can I get User-defined fields to be synchronized?

And are they shown in the Edit mode ?

    Entirely New Metadata Fields

Hey, long-reader first-time asker, so I have a huge collection of comic books in digital format (think Marvel, DC, etc.,) and there are lots of instances where characters from one series will appear in another (like Wolverine from "X-Men" makes an appearance in an issue of "New Mutants", etc.,) and I figure I can take advantage of metadata to help with searching - like use a specific field to list characters who appear across all series and issues so, hypothetically, if I wanted to do a search to find every single series and issue Wolverine appears in, I can.

So obviously the files themselves don't support metadata; they're literally just .ZIP and .RAR files that have been renamed .CBZ and .CBR respectively. To get over that hurdle I took advantage of a little custom piece called "File Meta Association Manager" - VERY handy since my wife is a photographer and often works with file formats that don't support metadata, that software makes it possible to add camera data, ISO speed, etc., to pictures that are .PNG format, etc. It basically just enables the metadata feature for whatever file extensions you'd like.

So with metadata enabled I'm brought to my question - is it possible, perhaps through a registry edit, etc., to create entirely NEW fields for metadata? Like I'm thinking instead of "Part of Set" field available to .MP4 files I could create a new field titled "Volume" for a comic book file.

Any ideas or suggestions? Thanks in advance.
