    User Name I can't delete

Ok, I don't know if this is a Windows 10 issue or a Carbonite issue. Just bought a new Windows 10 computer from Dell. Restored my files from Carbonite. Created a user name "Joe". When I go to the C: drive under Users, there is another user called "Smith39". I have no idea how that got there, but everything is defaulting to that username. Tried to delete the folder and it said I did not have permission. Went through the Control Panel to delete it and it is not listed. My iTunes wants to pull from this folder and it won't let me change it. I downloaded Quicken and the data went into this folder. I have done everything I can think of to delete it, but can't. Even the Command Prompt says C:\user\Smith39. I can't change it. Anyone have any suggestions? Not even sure what topic this should be under. Thanks.

    :)

I can't rename my user account

    Hello Owen,

    Welcome to the Microsoft Community.

    • Are you using a Microsoft account or local account?
If you are using local account, I suggest you to follow the below steps to change the user name.

Please follow the steps to rename the user account in Windows 10.

    a. In the search box, type user accounts and click on User Accounts.

    b. Click on “Change your account name”

    c. If it’s prompting for password please enter and click on Yes. If you do not have password click on Yes.

    d. Enter the new user name.

    e. Click on change name.

If you face any more issues while working with Windows do post on Microsoft Community Forum.

  3. How do I delete registry files?

HKEY_Current user will only delete the keys within the current account ur using so if u have another account, the keys will remain on that one. To delete it from ur entire system local machine is what u use. Ur second question i can't answer. sry

  4. User Name I can't delete

Accidentally deleted user account - urgent need to restore WIndows 10

I accidentally deleted the user account that I was using (not admin) and now can't fix the issue.

So, I followed these instructions (sort of):

    • Step 2: Choose Change your account name.
    • Step 3: Type a new name in the box and tap Change Name.
    • Step 1: Open Run by Windows+R, enter lusrmgr.msc and hit OK to open Local Users and Groups.
    • Step 2: Open the Users folder, right-click a user and select Rename in the menu.

I renamed the user. But then, stupid me, it didn't change it when I checked the start menu. So I then, instead of changing the name back, I deleted that user (which I was actually logged in as - it didn't ask for a password or anything either). It then removed
it from the list (there was a list of 3 items to choose from - Administrator, Guest , and the account I was using. I deleted that account (Liam it was called)

I then stupidly decided to log off and restarted the computer. I then tried to login, and the user account it came up with was Liam - but obvsiouly as I'd deleted the user, when I typed in the password nothing happened). But because I deleted that user in
the way above, it seems to have gone completely. What can I do to restore it?

I've tried system restore but it fails. So can't get back to a restore point.

It's a bit of a pickle really as it's an important user account on my work network and has folders on it that we need to function. I can't access the pc via another, as when I click 'Liam' it just can't connect, says it can't find it. I think what I've done
    has really broken the computer....

Any help will be gratefully received.
