    Hello -A user here is experiencing an weird issue with windows explorer, at least I think that's the core of the issue.It started with her not being able to open files inside of a zip folder. She double clicks on the files, and nothing happens. After unzipping the files, the folder then shows up empty. Weird.She also mentioned she was having an issue dragging stuff between windows explorer and her desktop. At this point I thought the issue might be with windows explorer, so I went to task manager and restarted explorer, and everything worked again. The problem is she has to do this multiple ti

    Hello -

    A user here is experiencing an weird issue with windows explorer, at least I think that's the core of the issue.

    It started with her not being able to open files inside of a zip folder. She double clicks on the files, and nothing happens. After unzipping the files, the folder then shows up empty. Weird.

    She also mentioned she was having an issue dragging stuff between windows explorer and her desktop. At this point I thought the issue might be with windows explorer, so I went to task manager and restarted explorer, and everything worked again. The problem is she has to do this multiple times a day. I already tried installing 7zip as an alternative, and that didn't solve the issue. So I think the issue is with explorer itself. I've ran sfc /scannow, I even came across an article saying to reinstall the video driver, which I did. Not sure what else to do. Having her restart windows explorer every couple hours is not acceptable either. Her machine isn'tthat old, and is up to date. Trying to resolve this issue without reissuing a new machine to her.

    Thank you for the update and I apologize for the inconvenience caused.

    I suggest you to follow the steps below and also check whether multiple Internet explorer process are running at the same time.

    • Press Ctrl + Alt + Del
    • Open Task manager.
    • Click on Detail Tab.
    • You will see Internet Explorer.
    • Right Click and End Task.
    • Restart the computer.

    Constant need to restart Windows Explorer to keep taskbar popping up in front of other windows . . .

    • When did you start having this problem?
    This is an ongoing issue - the community has collected many posts on the subject (with the usual 'cure' of retarting Windows Explorer)

    • Did you make any changes on the computer prior to this issue?
    None I can recall

    • What troubleshooting steps have you done so far?
    None

    In the past I found it nessasary to restart Windows Explorer maybe one a month - but more recently, the need has moved to, as much as, several times per day - thus prompting this Community post.
