Windows 10: User password must be changed before logging in

Hi just bought a laptop couple of days ago, and as I remember I didnt set up a password for signing in on windows, this is a windows 11 btw, after few days of using it, on playing games, I installed MS teams, then use it for a couple of hours and then lalptop restarted, afterwards I cannot sign in and it kept saying User password must be change before logging in, set up a new password and it didnt pish through, it saying password is incorrect or not match. Can someone help me on this? Or should I reformat my laptop?

Can't change password to log in windows or add pin

To isolate the issue, we suggest that you follow these steps:

• Click on Start.
• Type compmgmt.msc in the Windows Search box, and then press
  Enter.
• On the left pane, click on the Local Users and Groups drop down.
• Under the Local Users and Groups drop down, click on
  Users folder.
• On the right pane, double-click on the user account which not allowing you to change its password.
• It will open its Properties window. Make sure that User cannot change password
  option is unchecked. If its enabled, uncheck the checkbox by clicking it.
• Click on the Apply button to save changes.
• Try to change your password and check if the issue persists.

We understand how difficult it could be and we appreciate the time and effort that you have taken to work this issue. However, in order to get clarity, we would need some more information regarding the issue.

1. Were you using the “Old email (account) address” regardless of not using laptop?
   
2. Are both the email addresses linked?
   
3. Could you please let us know, where exactly you get prompt for the password for the “Old email address” in the desktop?
   
4. What is the exact error message you get when you try to log in to laptop?
   
5. Does your desktop has two user profiles?
   

In the meantime, we would suggest you to follow the steps mentioned below and check.



You would need to have internet connection in laptop, so that the password change could get updated and it seems that the laptop is not connected to the internet, we would suggest you to connect Ethernet cable to laptop and then
try logging in to the laptop with the new password for the old email address.
