    user permission required in order to change a file name to a capital letter


    so i have foler redirection setup and in use at my work place which works great. but i have this issue where none of the users are able to make a change to their file names. for example if a file was called test.txt and they wanted to change is to Test.txt it shows the error you need permission to perform this action.i have been through all the secitury options and i can't figure this one out.

    File Names Changing to All Capitals

    I just tried some Save as in Excel, one time the suggested save file name was in Capitals tried 3 other files they were in proper case. Went back to original file and now that was in proper case!

    I note that when suggesting Capitals some of the file path had changed to Capitals as well.

    Didnt quite get that last message about searching in capitals and things changing to capitals. Normally the only difference in windows should be visibility. For the windows file system FILE should be the same as file or fILe. In the Linux filesystem for
    comparison capital letters make a diffrence so FILE is not equals file.

    Thats why i wanted to you determine in powershell or cmd which files exactly are stored in the folder and of what types they are.

    Thank you for providing us the screenshot. Permissions are rules that determine whether you can access or change files and folders. You have to make sure that
    you are logged on as an administrator to change permissions on files and folders. Let us perform again the steps below:

    • Right-click the file or folder, and then click Properties.
    • Click the Security tab.
    • Under Group or user names, click your name to see the permissions that you have.
    • Click Edit, click your name, select the check boxes for the permissions that you must have, and then click
      OK.
    We also suggest that you check whether the USB flash drive is shown in the File explorer and try to open the files from there.
