Windows 10: User profile migration options - helpdesk PC replacements

Replacing peoples PC's it's a real pain making sure we get everything over. We're currently moving PPLs personal folders over to OneDrive and it will be great I'm sure, although it's a real pain getting Redirected/Offline folder data back onto the PCs and then onto OneDrive. - We will get there but it is a tedious task that MS could have done much more to make convenient!But even after that we will still have PC replacement issues as 1. many of our users does not find making a sync account in their browsers a task worthy to their status so they loose all their browser favorites, saved homepage

• What do you mean when you mentioned domain user profile?
• Are you trying to copy a local user profile to a domain account?
• What troubleshooting steps have you done so far?

How to move User data - move user, when reloading or replacing a PC?

We at Washington state use USMTGUI

With USMTGUI any supporter can easily migrate (backup/restore) user profiles.
You can backup local, Domain and AAD profiles and restore them to and local, Domain and AAD users.

We also use UPC from EhlerTech. UPC handles migrations of Domain user profiles over the network
We use UPC primarily to collect a users profile just before the user is handed his new PC.
Install the new PC, collect the users profile from his currrent PC and add it to the new PC, PRIOR to him picking it up.
We save a tonne of configuration time

 

Migrate Locale Profile to Domain

I removed my reply because watching those instructions on TechNet I started wondering if they really work with Windows 10.

Anyway, whatever you try create first a dummy profile, customize it a bit and move it to domain. If everything works, you can then move real profiles.
