Windows 10: USER PROFILES STORED ON COMPUTER

So I have only created two accounts on my laptop, ive had it for a little over a year now. I'm not computer savvy by any means either. Today I decided to just go through settings and try to gain a little more knowledge of the programs. I ended in system properties where I noticed it states " PROFILES STORED ON THIS COMPUTER" IN ORDER 1. ACCOUNT UNKNOWN LOCAL/ LOCAL 2. MY PROFILE. LOCAL/LOCAL 3. MY WORK PROFILE. LOCAL/LOCAL 4. DEFAULT PROFILE. LOCAL/LOCALMY concern is only numbers 2 and 3 are what I have created. Is this normal? The account titled unkn

The User Profile Service service failed the sign-in. User profile cannot be loaded.

Hello,

When attempting to login to my computer, I get the following message:

"The User Profile Service service failed the sign-in.

User profile cannot be loaded."

I referred to this Help article,You receive a "The User Profile Service failed the logon” error
message,

but the only difference is I only have one user profile on this computer. So, I can't login with another user to go through the steps listed in this post.

Any suggestions?

Before we assist further, I would like to ask you a few questions:

• How many user profiles are managed on the computer?
• Are you facing the above issue on a personal computer or a shared computer?
• Have you ever converted the current user account to Microsoft account?

I suggest you to take backup of all the data saved in the system on an external drive due to the behavior exhibited by the computer.



For observation purpose, I suggest you to create another user account and check if similar issue persists after one week or more. Refer to
Set up accounts article to create a new user account on the computer.



The corrupted user profile does not function normally such as not launching
Start menu, Cortana, Search bar, Store and other
Windows applications. In such cases creating a new profile and checking for the same will help in identifying if the is specific to corrupted user profile or the OS.

User Profile Service failed

To resolve your concern, we suggest that you follow these steps:

• Copy the Default folder (in C:\Users) from another windows 10 computer.
• Rename the Default folder to something like DefaultOLD (just to keep it for safety reasons).
  
• Paste it in your Users folder.
• To make sure that you won't have problems with permissions of the "implant" folder, just transfer it via a FAT/FAT32 formatted USB stick (those filesystems don't have permissions).

This will provide solution to the error User Profile Service failed.
