Windows 10: User Reset on Login

I have a bit of a strange issue... on login, Windows seemed to have created a brand new user and logged me into it. Assuming i had lost my old user, i went into the user files, dragged everything from the desktop folder onto the new desktop... only to restart my computer and be logged into the original user again. The thing is i can't find the desktop in any of the user folders, it's like it up and vanished. I had some important files on my desktop... if i search for them in the search function, it's not finding any. Yet, they're still taking up space in my PC so they're not deleted or anythin

Local user disappeared frin login options after upgrade

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately, I was unable to fix the issue. Here are my steps:

• I've uninstalled the last 3 updates (the ones from september):
  
  • however, they keep getting reinstalled:
    

• I've added two new users: one from the GUI, the other as you suggested in step 2:
  
  • They are listed under users;
    
• I've also booted in safe mode just to check.
  

I still have no way to login other than with the main account. No local users are available at login or when I go to start menu and click on my user.

Please advise

 

How do I reset the password if I have auto login enabled?

Step 1 - Disable the auto-login using Option 1 of Sign in User Account Automatically - TenForumsTutorials [and note its cross-reference to Enable or Disable Passwordless Sign-in - TenForumsTutorials if NetPlWiz does not display the necessary checkbox] Step 2 - As Brink says use Option 2 of Reset Password of User Account - TenForumsTutorials Step 3 - Re-setup the auto-login using the same tutorials as Step 1. Windows users at login

I cannot see all of my user accounts on the login screen on a new Windows 10 laptop. I have an account for my son and it does not appear as a user on the login screen. It is listed if I display the users with the CMD prompt. The only account I see is my
account which is an admin. His account is a user. All the suggestions I've seen are not available on home edition.
