Windows 10: USER showing twice after freezing and restart

HELP: Never had this Happen before, but, Two days ago my Windows 10 Home Edition PC became unresponsive during a scan in Windows Fax and Scan. After 5 minutes Yes I timed it I did a force shut down with power button. Prior to the PC Freeze my User was set for auto log in. Now, Upon start up my USER is shown twice on log in screen. The "first one" I tried gave a message that USER ID OR PW not valid. The second accepted my user ID and PIN. In USERS in control panel My user is list only once so I tried restart hoping it would be a fix. Same: On reboot My User shows twice. I went back to contr

The other reason I suggested this is that users can add characters to their username that are not alphanumeric (e.g. user*). This confuses things somewhat when looking at the list.

Hi dalchina. Good news, I followed your suggestion and reinstalled the update and now it appears as "installed correctly" *Biggrin Maybe it was not necessary to run the Windows Update Troubleshooter or maybe if necessary. But using it I do not think it could have worsened something. The installation was very fast, unlike the first time it showed step 1 and step 2 completed.
