  1. Username Auto Applied to Windows System

    Hi there

When I set up Windows on a new laptop last year, it asked me to enter the username that I would like to use on the PC essentially the name for my folder in C:\Users. As luck would have it, my laptop slipped off my lap while I was typing my name and in trying to catch it, I pressed the enter key, locking in the user name of 'camer' for all of time.

I read up at the time and I found out that it's nigh impossible to change your username once it's set up and even if you do manage to change it, a whole myriad of problems could potentially occur as a result so I decided to take it on the chin and wait until my next upgrade to have a second go at typing my name out correctly.

And so! I bought a new PC a couple weeks ago and set Windows up as I would normally. It asked for my Microsoft account details on first boot which I gave it and then it logged me straight in without further ado with the username of, you guessed it, 'camer'.

It would appear that this mistake has forever been burned in to my Microsoft account and I have searched in vain for many nights to find a way to change this. It's not a configurable field anywhere on my Microsoft account page and yet it hovers over me!

Please could someone tell me where I could go to stop this from happening in the future? I'm really at a loss here - it's a really small problem but it's just so silly that this is so permanent and I don't have the opportunity to change it - especially considering how important that one little string is.

    Thanks in advance!

    Cam

The tutorials provided are just a list of troubleshooting steps. Use only the steps which apply to you.

Since none of the troubleshooting steps here worked, I'd suggest you do a Clean install.

That's what the auto setting will do since you're over the 1333 mark it jumps to the next step which isn't listed or officially supported I assume by that ram.

At this point though I would suggest dropping the multi one step or .5 so that we can get something stable and possibly take the heat issue out of the picture for now.

    Auto rotation

    Hello,

Let us isolate your concern by answering the questions below:

    • What is the make and model of your device?
    • Have you checked on the action center if there is a Rotation lock option?
In the meantime, we suggest that you check the Screen Resolution display to check if there is a setting to allow the screen to auto-rotate. Here are the steps:

    • Go to Control Panel.
    • Search for Display and then click Change display settings.
    • Mark the checkbox beside Allow the screen to auto-rotate option if possible.
    • Click Apply and then OK.
We are looking forward to your response.
