  1. Username/Password not synching with Live ID.

My laptop was originally a Windows 8.1 laptop which was upgraded to Windows 10. Originally the laptop was setup using a Microsoft Live Acocunt(Personal Account) and a password was created. The problem I'm having is I can't change my password on the laptop. I can change my password in my Microsoft Account, but it doesn't change on the laptop. It acts as though the user profile is confused if it is a local account or a microsoft account.

When I try to change the password in Computer Management | Local Users and Groups, Change Password, I get The system is not authoritative for the specific account and therefore cannot complete the operation. Then I go into the Windows 10 user interface |Change Settings, It states that I can "Manage my Microsoft Account or Sign in with a local account instead." When I go into Sign-in options, I can go to change account password, but it takes me to Microsoft account password change. So I try to change the password anywhere it requests, but nothing seems to relate to the actual password that I have to type in when I login to the laptop.

In Summary, I login to the computer with password AAA. I changed my Microsoft(Personal Account) password BBB muliple times and rebooted the computer, but still have to use password AAA to login.

That is why the laptop seems to be confused about local account/Microsoft account. The account is an Administrator account in Computer Management. Everything acts like a local account, but I can't change the password like I would if it were a local account. I can see my computer in the office.com account information so it is linked to the Personal Account.

I do have a work account in Office365 with the same email address, but nothing points to that account and that password changes regularly as well, but is not linked to the laptop login password. So I'm focusing more on the Personal Microsoft Account/Local Account where the problem lies.

    :)

  2. NisargS Win User

Initial Live ID login tells me incorrect username password!

I just got a HTC Mazaa, that I won from the WPAppItUp contest and it tells me my username and password of my Windows Live ID is incorrect.

Because of this reason, I can't do anything with my phone.

The phone came with Mango, in case this helps.

Why can't I log in? My username and password entered is correct for sure, I just logged in right now!

Can this have something to do with me staying in India? I just saw WP7 advertisement in a newspaper by Dell. Hasn't it already been launched in India?

  3. Invalid user ID/Password with PCSuite Synch

I can connect my E50 fine, but get an error message "invalid username or password" when trying to synch. I have uninstalled and reinstalled PCSuite on my PC and tried not changing the password (i.e.keeping the default), but it hasn't helped. I've also
tried changing the password on the phone, but I'm not sure this has been successful--if I type 3 digits, I still see 4 asterisks. As I type the digits, letters often dísplay rather than digits, but I don't know how to avoid this.

    Any suggestions?

  4. Username/Password not synching with Live ID.

Live mail asks for login creds then gives following error:Unable to dend/receive mail for XXXX. An incorrect password was entered.

    Hi Roger,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community.

you are getting the error 0x800CCC92 in Windows Live Mail because the password you had entered is not correct. Or, in other words, the password provided to the email client does not match the account username.

To solve the Windows Live Mail error 0x800CCC92, you have to double check both the password and the user ID (username) you had supplied when the email account was set up. Please understand that in order to access your email account successfully,
the login information has to be correct.

I suggest you to follow the below steps and check if it helps.

    • Start the Windows Live Mail email client.
    • Click "Tools" from the top menu and choose "Accounts".
    • A pop up will be displayed showing you all the email accounts in Windows Live Mail. Select the one that's giving you the error and then click the "Properties" button.
    • Another pop up window shows all the settings associated with this account.
    • Under the "Servers" tab double check the "E-mail username" and "Password". One of them would definitely be incorrect which is resulting in the Windows Live Mail error ID 0x800CCC92.
    • To avoid having to enter the username and password each time, check the box in front of "Remember password".
    • Once you make appropriate changes, click the "Apply" button followed by "OK". Close the other pop-up window.
Hope this helps. Please reply to us with the status of the issue.

    Thanks.
