  1. Username wrong in files

This is a problem I've had for maybe 2 computers now and I haven't figured out how to fix it. I'm not good with computers in the slightest and have a hard time understanding real basic computer stuff. I'm also prone to breaking stuff which is why I'm asking here first to be extra sure before I go and wreak my stuff. So my Microsoft Account has had my full name since I made the account several years ago. For some reason every time I've gotten a new computer and put my account on there the username in the files goes by the first 5 letters of my email instead of my actual first name.

    For example:

    Microsoft Account = [Randomemail@email.email](mailto:Randomemail@email.email)

Name attached to account = FirstName LastName

    Computer Username = Rando

It's not the end of the world but I'm nitpicky. I rather it be my first name or a nickname I can set. I'm looking to get a new laptop sometime this year and I'd like to avoid this weirdness again. If someone can explain it to me in layman's terms I'd appreciate it. (And if the solution is really as simple as just renaming the user file in the C Drive or something like that you can poke fun at me for being kinda dumb. I have a super bad history with computers and don't wanna risk messing with anything and suddenly be unable to run programs without reinstalling them or be unable to access my files or some other weird crap)

  2. Wrong username in file system

My username in the file system - C:/Users/username - is wrong, since for some reason it has been named using only the first five letters of my name. Why is this, and is there any way I can rename it? My actual name seems to be displayed everywhere else in
    Windows.

  3. Kreij Win User
Current active users that are friends

The other reason I suggested this is that users can add characters to their username that are not alphanumeric (e.g. user*). This confuses things somewhat when looking at the list.

    Username wrong in files

Cannot find Desktop Icon in File Explorer

Now that is interesting. If I do what you suggest, File Explorer Address bar changes to C:\Users\username\documents and the missing ICONS are there. But there is still not a "Desktop" folder.

Is this a step in the right direction?
