    Please see the image above in reference to this issue. I have a user who was given a laptop previously used by another employee. We don't handle any of the setup for the laptops and are remote with no good way to get our hands on the laptops themselves so fixes are difficult at times. When my user goes to Settings, she sees the highlighted email address under her name. That isn't her email address and she wants it removed. Everything else on the laptop seems to be working properly, this just isn't showing the correct info. When she clicks on My Microsoft account nothing happens. Is there a way

    Hello Ian this is Emily.

    Looks like the previous user linked their Microsoft account to the device.

    Unless you have this previous user's Microsoft account password, there's no way to simply swap it. Instead, you can add the new user, as a local user only, so you don't run into this again.

    Here are the steps:

    1. Type netplwiz in the search on the taskbar and hit enter. When launched, click on "Add". On the next window, click on the bottom where it says to create an account without Microsoft email. This will allow you to define your own username. Make sure it doesn't contain space or special character. Set it up as a local user.

    2. (do this step only if you want your employee to have admin right to the computer) When the above user is created, back to the main netplwiz page, double click on this new user, go to the Group Membership tab, make it administrator. Save the change.

    3. Restart the computer. Sign into the new user you created in Step 1.

    Steps 4 and 5 can be only done if the new user has admin right.

    4. Type sysdm.cpl in the search on the taskbar and hit enter, go to Advanced tab, click on the "Settings" button at the User Profile section. Then delete the old user profile.

    5. Launch netplwiz again, delete the old user from there.

    It is more than likely that your email account was hacked, either by a virus sniffing your password, or just simply hacked.

    Either way, change your password on your email account. Unfortunately the damage by already be done. They already have your contact list and your email address associated with that contact list. There is nothing stopping them from sending out emails using their own SMTP servers to everyone on your contact list and claiming the emails are from your email address. They don't actually have to have access to your yahoo account or even any yahoo server to send emails to people that come from your address.
